Im not being a ****in apologist for Roy, Tarver has his head and it showed, because especially in the 12th, Roy could have exploded into a KO finish even after taking Tarvers best punches in the 11th, HE JUST DIDINT WANNA ENGAGE. Read what im saying, or watch the ****in figh.
    .....Here are your own words.

Roy acted like he didint wanna fight, he could have taken control of the fight ANYTIME HE WANTED.

These are mine: Sounds like he was just avoiding getting knocked out again and that was his only goal for the fight.

Most of the time he was feinting and, at the rare time when he actually threw, threw only one punch at a time. Jones probably fought better in their first encounter than in this one (same with Tarver). If Tarver wants more respect, he should move up to heavyweight and face James Toney. That would be an interesting fight.

The few times, like the 3 or 4 times he actually strung together punches he was somewhat effective, especially when he hurt Tarver with the body shots, but its all true, when you get knocked out twice, your never the same, your never going to go all out, Roy fought defensively and simply couldnt find the heart to not worry about that ****.

He absolutely could have done so, and it showed when he threw in combination and feinted his way inside playing his little games, thats not an excuse for him or anyone else, its what i saw. Tarver would freeze when he would do this, i know im not the only person who saw this.

And your right, his only goal wasnt to get knocked out and it showed.

Jones told Brian Kenny that he still wants to fight but I think he really should retire. He didn't want to engage and even seemed to be scared almost. He ran through most rounds, the times he threw punches it was one at a time and even that wasn't all that great because he missed the majority of them.

Tarver for his part should of been more aggressive. A more aggressive Tarver would of had another knockout victory within 6 rounds.

Roy in my mind really only won one round, and it was the round where he did land combinations and the one that hurt tarver, i mean i couldnt believe roy wouldnt take advantage of the openings, the transitions between ring movement, roy of old would counter against the ropes, but he just..man, it was pathetic knowing that roy could have made an effort to excert his speed and ability on Tarver and elected not to.

Jones ia afraid of Tarver because of Tarver's style of boxing period. I hope tarver can now be looked at as a great champion

I think Tarver owned Roy this night and made him look bad. Even when Roy was landing Tarver was getting him back nearly as hard. Tarver is obsesed with Roy, he has his number and he's the only guy he will step up every time to beat. I'm telling you, Roy in his prime would have had trouble in this fight, Antonio seemed to know his every move.

Agreed. I always said that Tarver was heavy-handed. There's power in those hands buddy. And the southpaw style from long range is just a nightmare for orthodox fighters like Roy.

                      hmm

It was not even a close fight. Tarver owns Jones number.
I was at the fight and in no way shape or form did Tarver kick Roy's ass or own Jones. tarver actually didn't do that great given the version of Roy he had in frnt of him.

After 6 rounds the fight was even and it looked like Roy would win. But roy got too tired when he threw combos and he was a bit gunshy.

And don't say "roy coulda taken control anytime he wanted". That's what ppl say about faded legends and it never turns out to be true. In his prime he could have but don't encourage Roy to keep fighting by saying things like that now.
