If this series of tubes known as the internet was around back in Hagler's day, Hagler would be labled by message board trolls as a coward-bully-ducker who unfairly picks on smaller fighters and only stayed at middleweight his whole career because he was afraid of challenging himself by moving up in weight and facing Michael Spinks.

For a guy who ducked Michael Spinks, and lost to a man who was 2 weight classes below him and out of boxing for 3 years, this Marvin Hagler feller sure does get alot of unheralded praise from the armchair boxing enthusiast community.

Hagler retired before 168lb was even an established division. There was noone for him to fight at the weight.

That was a really dumb post you made.

I have crazy respect for Marvin. He was my favourite fighter when I was a kid. However, he really doesn't seem to have learned much from his experience with SRL.

It is well-documented that he lost that fight before the opening bell during the negotiations:
              1. He agreed to a 12 round fight instead of a 15 round fight which was still a option at the time.
              2. He let Leonard choose the gloves for both fighters (choosing thumbless pillows that favoured Leonard)
              3. He agreed to a 24 ft ring instead of 20ft (increasing the ring size by 44% for the fleet-footed Leonard)
              4. He let Leonard choose the canvas in the ring. He allowed a tight "fast-track" which favours the boxer instead of a heavier softer one which favours the puncher

Again, I loved Marvin, but his macho warrior attitude cost him the fight.

                    Hagler (Legend), Mayweather (Not)!

Coming from a legend like Hagler, it's credible and spot on. It's what Boxing and the fans have been saying all along. Mayweather thinks he's above the IRS, about the Law, above Boxing, and he's clearly not. No other boxer has made such demands of Pacquiao. Dela Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, or even Marquez, Morales, or Maidana never or will make such pathetic demands before fighting or as they line up to fight Pacquiao. What this proves is Floyd is afraid to fight Manny on all levels. Just as Arum said before, once Manny agrees to Floyd's steroid demand, then it will be something else with Floyd. It's too big a risk to get in the ring with Manny, Floyd knows it, Floyd Sr and Uncle Roger know it, and so so fans. So it's much easier for that gangster clan to sit on the bench and talk trash, never getting in the ring with Manny...hoping someone else does the dirty work and exposes or beats Manny, then Floyd never has to get in the ring with him. Floyd lacks courage. 2nd case in point, Maidana destroyed Ortiz in 6 rounds, and Floyd opts to fight Ortiz rather than fight the more dangerous fighter in Maidana, stating it was because Ortiz won a title from Berto. So what? Thought Floyd was all about the P4P, and not a belt. He's scared of Maidana, just as he's scared of Manny. Regardless of his record, Floyd will never be spoken as a legend in the same breath as Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Arguello, or even Dela Hoya or Mosley, whom all fought the best of the best, multiple times, win, lose, or draw. Floyd is gutless. Period.

As expected, Hagler knows what this **** is all about. May is trying to bend Pac to his will, and Pac isn't dumb or desperate enough to let him.
