Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton is Backing Rhodes To Upset Canelo

Former two-weight world title holder Ricky Hatton believes Ryan Rhodes can cause an upset on Saturday night as he takes on 37-fight unbeaten Saul Alvarez in his own backyard of Jalisco, Mexico. Hatton, 32, is now acting as the challenger’s promoter and sees the Sheffield fighter’s experience as being the key to unlocking the door to beat the WBC champion.

Well of course you're picking Rhodes.
      Just don't see it though.

The Racket Squad: Stranger Then Friction

IF Ryan were to wear this kid down, it would be less of an upset then the realization of a predictable fate.
At 20 and virtually untested in 37 contests, this kid has been given more gift opponents then Chavez jr.
Canelo is uneven in his footwork and hardly the 'prodigy' that Max Kellerman knighted him as.
It's a fight and stranger things have happened.
Just ask a Mr. Kirkland or a Mr. Berto.

Damn good call, not many people remember that line that Ricky threw out before the Pacman fight. I'll never forget when he made that ridiculous statement b/c it reminded me of tens of thousands of Detroit residents that bet their houses (by taking out home equity lines) on Hearns over Leonard. And when you factor in that the only difference b/w Ricky and Tommy's nickname is the word "The" in from of Hitman, well let's just say it was a self fulfilling prophecy of doom & gloom. After the knockout, Ricky both figuratively and (just about) literally 'swallowed his tongue'.

So unless Ricky is giving predictions on Manchester City's next football match, I'll stay away from any prediction Clown Ricky has on the actual sweet science.
