Honestly between the two, Canelo shows more promise than JCC Jr. who's been riding his dad's shadow the whole way up. Canelo would spark JCC Jr. if (once) they meet up in the ring.

It's kind of a tie. Both won manufactured titles and continue to take on modest opposition. Goldenboy will put Alvarez in with someone good though before Arum puts Chavez in there.

Hype job......I would say Canelo and it's not even close because he basically won his title when it was vacated and the guy he fought was a whole weight class under him.

People are convinced that Canelo is the next great fighter, I'm not sure if he is or not.

Where as Chavez Jr, I don't think anyone thinks he will be a great fighter. I think he get's too much slack and think he can be a GOOD fighter, just not great like his father.

        So I think it's Canelo.

WTF, not even close. Chavez Jr.

Alvarez actually has tons of potential and talent.

            Chavez Jr is a bum.

I know what you mean. Although the kid is a good fighter I just don't see anything from him that suggests that he'll be great. But he's still young and still developing so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

20 yo Alvarez´ pro debut was in 2005, he has fought 37 times since.
He improves every fight and shows heart and dominance in his recent fights.

25 yo Chavez Jr's debut was in 2003, he has fought 45 times.
Since his debut he grew from 130 to 160 pounds and from 5'11 to over 6'0.

both guys got handed a world title against European level fighters.

***, nobody would reject a title shot.

I would rate Canelo over Junior. I see more potential.

I agree but that's my point. the questioned asked (and I think most misunderstood it) who is the bigger hype job.

If you answer it from that perspective it's Canelo and it's not even debatable. Nobody thinks Chavez Jr is going to be great, so how can he be a hyped by people?

Where as Canelo by many, is seen as the next great Mexican champion. So they are hyping him up much, much more.

I do disagree with the bolded, he's too young to make that statement just yet. Remember how Barrera, Morales and even JMM developed as time went on. Canelo is 20 yrs old and has a TON of time to get better and he's pretty good for his age you would have to admit.

they're both hype jobs but Canelo is only 21 and he seems to be fighting tougher opponents
