I don't despise him, he just gets on my nerves a bit. As does seeing him so overrated by the British boxing media and casual fans. Contrast that with Wlad, who is a likeable guy yet has been unfairly denigrated as a boring, robotic, weakling paper-champ for years, and it's hard not to root for Haye to get his lights turned out.
Why should we support our countrymen by default, anyway? I'm not opposed to a bit of patriotism in boxing, but I'd prefer to pick the British boxers who are actually deserving of my support.Comment

Why must I support the British fighter because I am British?
I support the fighter I like and don't support ones I don't like. Regardless to what Nationality they are.
I'm a big fan of Chris Eubank and would be whether he were British or not.
I'm not a fan of David Haye and wouldn't be whether he were British or not.

I don't class Boxing as a sport where you have to support the guy from where you are from, i have always been a fan of the Klits and have never warmed to Haye so I'll be supporting Wlad 2nd July.
I like Khan but i wanted Maidana to beat him, nationality doesn't come into it when it comes to my favorite fighters.Comment

I'd say there's a difference between not supporting them and hating on them. It's fine to not support them but I see some posters follow various threads only hating on British boxers, it makes little sense to me.
On topic, Haye is right, no British boxing fan is going to actually fly out to cheer Klitschko.Comment

I'm British, born and bred and I will be supporting Wladimir Klitschko....Never have liked David Haye. How can I root against a British fighter? Easy, he's a scumbag, disrespectful, a poor representation of the UK and just bad for boxing. Pulled out of fighting a Klitschko 3 times, talks ****, gives us fights against Ruiz, Valuev in a stinker and the amazing Harrison and expects all of us to support him? Please. I'm a fan of boxing and even though Haye is exciting and Klitschko is safety first, Wlad and Vitali ALWAYS fight the best available to them. That is what boxing is about.Comment

Id dont like Haye very much. He talks ***** and is over hyped. Wlad has paid his dues at HW, and is the ultimate professional, and overall better boxer.
I support class, skills and respect over some imaginary loyalty to a guy who was born on the same piece of land i was.
I mostly support Brit fighters because they arent regarded as good as Americans or Latino's. But as a true boxing fan, nationalism should take a back seat to admiring a boxer because of their skills, record, attitude etc.
My favorite fighters are nearly all South American.

Im a leeds united supporter and i ****in hate manchester united however if they are in the champions league final against barcalona im going to support my home club not defect through hatred as much as i'd like to im english therefore i will always support any british team the same applies to boxing i like other fighters but if there facing an english man im rooting for my own have some pride in you'r countryComment
