  • ****** Debate

Just getting sick of the entire debate. There just seems to be a lack of objectivity between both fan bases that borders on mental ******ation. Boxing is all about match ups and you can speculate all you want to on the results. Styles make fights. I'd love to see Pacquiao win because FMJ is just a total POS, but he has the game to beat Pacquiao. That's the truth and I hate that guy.

Someone earlier compared FMJ fighting Gatti to what he could do to when he was angry? Gatti was slow and he got hit by pretty much everyone he fought so you really can't compare the scenarios. It doesn't equate to the present.

My point in responding to your post was in regards to your flawed logic. You, like most people on this board, have no clue what the PPV numbers mean. There are so many variables that go into counting PPV buys, that it is impossible to conclude that one fighter is more popular than the other. You have no idea how many buys get counted from other countries. You have no idea how many bars buy fights and pack people in. You have no idea how many people are buying a fight to watch a certain fighter.

It's ridiculous for you to say that one fighter is more popular than another fighter based solely on PPV numbers you see reported on a weak boxing website.
I just was replying to your post.

A diehard RJ fan won't give Tarver credit for beating RJ because he was no longer in his physical prime, which is true. But, he was still considered the best fighter in the world when Tarver starched him. So to not give Tarver credit is ridiculous, IMO. The same will happen when and if Mayweather and Pac fight. I've been watching both for 15 years and I'll tell anyone that ask Mayweather isn't nearly as good as he was as a lightweight and Pac isn't as good as he was at 130, which IMO were both fighters physical primes. I think most would agree. So if Mayweather wins, the *******s will scream that Money waited out and fought an "old" Pacquaio. If Pac wins, the *****s will scream that Pac beat an old, inactive fighter. In the end, it will all be nonsense because both are still fighting at a ridiculously high levels, even thouigh their physical primes are long gone.
That's when Floyd wanted to fight him when Shane was at Lightweight and Floyd was at Jr Lightweight. Shane didn't want the fight and moved up for Oscar. That fight would have been way more competitive than the one they had but I can't say Shane would have beat Floyd or vice versa. Shane was something back then but I think his Kryptonite has always been a boxer and not a brawler.

But Roach says that Manny has improved since he move up the divisions. Pac couldn't even fight with his right hand back then.

Yeah, I remember. But in defense of Mosley, it made no sense for him to fight Mayweather back then. Mayweather was an unknown kid and the likes of DLH and Tito were at welterweight. He chased the money, which he should have. I always felt cheated that we never got to see Mosley at 140.With as loaded as that division was back then, think of all the great match-ups that could gave been made with Sugar in the mix.

If the fight ever happens, I see Floyd stopping Manny (only if he steps on the gas) but if not, then it will be a wide UD. Cotto had success when he boxed for a couple of rounds but Cotto doesn't have the technical temperament to keep it up. Clottey let his hands go out of a defensive guard and bust Pac's face up and he barely threw anything. In Pac's last 3 fights (Cotto, Clottey, Margarito) Pac got hit more than Floyd did in his entire career. Floyd is a top compubox connector and Manny is always getting tagged. I would bet all my points that Floyd gaffles Pac.
Come on Bro! That's not true at all.

LOL!! That was kinda Roach's excuse for Pac having tough fights back in the day. Pac supposedly made the great transformation after the first Morales fight. Personally, I think the transromation had less to do with Pac learning new tricks and more to do with Morales going from washed up to completely washed up (as Zahir Raheem showed) first fight with Pac and the rematch. Because when met with resistance in the JMM rematch, Pac appeared to be the same jab, jab, straight left hand fighter he's always been. And I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that Pac resorts to being the one trick pony he is next time he's in a competitive fight. Could happen in Nov.

i agree, unfortunately for the opponent he's fighting and at the weight he's fighting him at, i don't think we will see that in november.

to be honest, with cotto and margarito i think like now with manny, its not the fighter but the promoter he's avoiding. And it eats me up to this day that people still throw margarito's name into the picture, he lost all credibility before the Mosley fight, and after looking at Sebastian Lujin's ear after their fight, im 100% sure, that Margarito got caught doing, what he was use too.
