"Mike Tyson is not HOF material"..

THose were the words of Dan Patrick today on his radio show. He said tyson was scared to fight Lewis and Holyfield and ducked them. He said that his career and fights were staged and he knocked out a bunch of bums.
I was really disappointed to hear such harsh remarks from a man who seems to pretty much know alot about a variety of sports, he went on to say that Stallone was deservidly in the hall.
What are you thoughts on this?

I'm probably one of the harsher Mike Tyson critics on this site, but he is clearly a HOFer.

Mike Tyson belongs in the HOF, if he doesn't then most other guys shouldn't be there either. He will be remembered as one of the most exciting and intimidating heavyweights of all time.

He had won most fights before he'd entered the ring, the other guys faces showed pure fear.

I totally agree with you guys and I was uprised by Dans comments and he is a fight fan.
I right away thought well if mike was dominating bums (supposedly) by knocking them out in 1 round and he isnt HOF material the neither Klit is either because they are doing the same thing but they are taking longer to knock the bums out

IMO they are both HOF material based on their dominance
its not their fault the division is s hit

First of all he did not duck Lewis or Holyfield. Secondly, you cannot say that Stallone is hall of fame material and Tyson is not. The basis of the Stallone argument is that his films inspired generations of boxing fans and brought alot of attention to the sport. Tyson brought both of those things as well while showcasing a dominance that captured the public's imagination and created an excitement in the sport that has been unmatched since.

Exactly...I'm of the impression that HOF'ers are boxers, or rather, people who have contributed to the sport of boxing in a significant and memorable way.

As such, Sylvester Stallone is inducted. Not a boxer, but a figure of the sport due to his contributions to the awareness of the sport with his Rocky character.

I wrote a big long reply and then my computer froze. So I'll sum it up. Dan Patrick is a f**kstick/hack. Tyson clear HOF, The Most recognizable athlete in the world in his time.
Dan thinks he's on to something new by pointing out Tyson's weak resume. . .
