In all likelyhood, we could agree that Martinez would come out on top. But the odds have never prevented Miguel Cotto from stepping in the ring against anyone.
This isn't 2006, it's 2011. Cotto has ZERO chance against Martinez and would seriously get hurt if he fought him.

There's a reason they are avoiding Martinez, Chavez Jr, Marg or Cotto should not fight him. No reason for it.

Man some of you people live in fantasy land. Martinez vs Cotto wouldn't be fair, it would be like watching a child get beaten up by a grow man.

I never want to see that happen because I don't want to see cotto get hurt. Margarito, Cotto and Chavez Jr should run the other way if they even hear the word "Martinez".
If this is the case, why are people so excited to see the rematch? Margarito will beat Cotto down again. He will abuse him, to the point where it'll be hard to watch. People are picking Cotto merely on there emotions. They wanna see justice. However that's not how it works in the boxing world. Margarito is the worst possible match up for Cotto especially now since he's shot like hell. This will be just as bad a beat down as the first one.

Remember, Margarito used plaster in his hands, not his chin, and not only that but this fight is at 154, and weight that Cotto looks like he doesn't belong in at all. He doesn't know how to clinch, he doesn't know how to fight moving back. It will be a massacre. Much worse than the first one.

Dude, read my post. I wasn't talking about Marg vs Cotto, I was referring to Cotto vs Martinez....

There is no emotion speaking here,Cotto has actually made minor adjustments & seems less beat than Margarito atm.Margarito hasn't looked the same since running into a mountain of power called Mosley.I think Cotto is less shot & will beat him because of that.

I know what you were talking about. Martinez vs. Cotto is the exact same thing as this fight. A man beating up a child. Except Martinez has enough power to end it with 1 shot. Which IMO is far more merciful.

He hasn't looked good because he wasn't put against opposition who fit with his style.

For example, Margarito looks good against guys like Clottey and Cotto because they don't know to respond to Margarito's pressure and end up getting hit countless times. Then there are guys like Daniel Santos who out boxed him for a few rounds and quite easily too.

It's all about styles here. Margarito still has his chin, and his conditioning. That's really all he needs in this kind of fight.

Sounds like Lampley. I'd love this fight to be on HBO, but Showtime might throw in a (1) 360 episode, Super 6-ish.
Styles make fights, but if the Margarito that showed up versus Pacquiao comes in, that constant pressure type, then this could be a very good fight. I think Cotto has had a lot of time to rejuvenate himself, so I'd be leaning towards him winning. The gameplan is out there already, just keep moving like you did in the first half of your fight and you can make it look like Pacquiao did the entire 12 rounds of the fight (Mosley tied up and unloaded, I don't see Cotto doing that). Either way, even with all the time since they last met, this is bound to be another memorable event...I hope

If he wins I'd like to see him get another crack at Pacman. But 1st I want him to paddle up on Margarito.Who hasn't seemed the same after the shocking discovery of where his might came from was revealed.

it's a pretty close fight still with the style match up, but physically marg has taken a pounding.

if he does beat him though, i still don't want that pac fight. i mean, i like cotto on a human level.

I think you are giving Margarito to much credit at this point and not giving Steward enough.

Rewind to the first fight, had Cotto simply clinched when he should have, stayed off the ropes when possible and not leaned over at the waist making him a sucker for one of Margaritos best punches the upper cut. I think he would have won that fight in a decisive manner.

Fast Forward and you know that Steward will have him doing all of those things and its safe to say that Margs will be not be the same guy stepping into the ring that night also.

Margarito should not take this fight even though he has a chance at winning. Dude should retire for the sake of his health.
