I will remember Cortez as the man who helped Floyd beat Hatton and lose his unbeaten record.
What do you guys think of Joe Cortez being inducted into the Hall of Fame?

I don't like Cortez but he has paid his dues..I don't care that he is in the HOF,that means he won't be refing anymore fights right??If so I'm totally good with it..Comment

Actually all most of his worst performances came as of late. Joe was always a good ref and had to always deal with the toughest fighters to ref. Now he may be too old to keep up and yeah he digs the camera more now but his body of work is pretty good. I cant hold a grudge because he took a swipe at Sweet Pea. Pernell had no business rubbing his head.
Show me rthe replay where Cortez hit Hatton with a beautiful left hook knocking Ricky into the turnbuckle. Until then you gotta let go of your distorted past man.
He didnt cheat on Hatton. Cortez doesnt let anybody wrestle around. Hatton had to know that since Im sure his team had to agree on the refs.Comment

He's done a very poor job in many big fights, but clearly he is one of the more relied upon and well known refs in boxing. So I can't say he doesn't deserve it.Comment

Yes Floyd would have likely lost if it werent for Cortez. Kostya Tsu must feel hard done by when he saw the Floyd and Hatton fight. He feels the ref didnt help him as much as the ref helped floyd. Why does floyd need to fight a easier hatton than everyone else? Cant he just try and deal with the hatton everyone else lost to. The dirty hatton. If Floyd could beat the wrestling and hugging dirty hatton, now that would be something to give Floyd props to.
But always wants advantages dont he?
Tell me about it. Kostya Tsu knows all about that.
Hatton was scared to do anything as he might get punished by Cortez for hitting floyd, and he was wary of floyds elbows.Comment
