Again 1.3 is not a bad number, not at all. But they were expecting a lot more. Its not like its Manny's first PPv, he has had million dollar PPVs since 2008 when he fought Oscar, and prior to that he was already selling high PPV's as his PPV with Marquez that same year did something like 500,000 PPV's
This was disappointing because Bob Arum made a big deal about switching Pacquiao to Showtime and getting all of the viewers from CBS to watch the advertising. They spent a lot of money and time on this promotion and Arum really wanted to stick it to HBO. Now it seems HBO will end the year selling about the same as Showtime as I am sure Ortiz/Mayweather will do about 1.3 million.

PBF/Ortiz will do every etween 1.2-1.5 million. This is a legitimate good fight. Not a BS match up. Floyd makes it look easy but this is a good fight and people will buy it.

We don't know if Ortiz is a draw or not yet as he has not been on PPV. I can tell you he is a top dog right now, he is fan friendly, he interviews well, likable kid, and is Mexican American. That always helps in selling fights.
Not to mention all of the Floyd Mayweather fans, all of the Pacquiao fans who want to see Mayweather lose, all other people who want to see Mayweather lose.
Also do not underestimate the power of HBO 24/7 promotion, and their ability to get fans interested in the fight. They will sell this as the nice hero in Ortiz vs the evil Mayweather. 1.3 million will be sold.

And yes maybe Oscar carried most of the PPV, but its not like Manny was a stiff. As I said prior to that fight in late 2008, in early 08 he fought Marquez and that PPV sold half a million. Thats not too shabby.
