How can we as fans revive boxing?

In the United States do you think our future generations will revive boxing, or even keep it alive. What will it take to keep boxing going in the States. Why aren't our future generation into or have lack of interest for this great sport. Is it our fault for not passing knowledge or history of the sport. Is it our media's fault for not shining or putting any kind of light on boxing.(Particularly Espn)

Im 30 and I have a 13 year old son, and I constantly talk sports with him, but when I talk boxing he just has a blank look on his face. I feel as if I am forcing him to like boxing because I do. He says, "I dont really get boxing", same as with my friends and family. Although my wife enjoys boxing for the most part no one else close to me or work with me does. My son can talk baskeball and football all day. That doesn't bother me so much but with basketball he always discuss individuals. (ex: Lebron James, Kobe, Kevin Durant etc.) As if basketball is not a team sport. My family and friends also discuss these sports like that. So why is it an individual sport like boxing gets no love.

Im wondering what can we do as fans to possibly help the sport revive in the States. Or are real boxing fans just going to stay an exclusive club. I would love to see it broaden out here in the United States as possibly one day again as a major sport.

Your views and thoughts would be appreciated.

Side Note: The only two fighters my son does talk about are fighting each other. (Ortiz and Mayweather)

Boxing is fine and will always be fine, its not as popular as back in the day but i attribute that to the pussification of America, one major injury in any sports and ten rules get changed.

As fans I think the only we can really do is, like you, spread the word about it. Talk about boxing with other people and watch it in front of others.

you can't force people to 'like' boxing....

boxing as with any other sport, will automatically reach out to its own fans when they see it

you dont find boxing, boxing finds you

you dont get boxing, boxing gets you

That would explain why it's so unpopular.

Boxing is doing great everywhere but in the US and even as an American I have to acknowledge the world is bigger than the US. Boxing will always be the greatest fighting sport.

You are right just frustrating at times not being able to discuss it with people who are close to you.

                This.

Everybody in Germany knows who the Klitschkos are. They're selling out arenas that can fill 50k people. And almost everybody knows Abraham as well. He is also selling out places. ****, even Sturm is selling good whithout fighting anyone decent.

Everybody in the UK knows who Haye and Khan are. They're selling out venues that can hold 20k as well.

Everybody in Mexico knows who JMM and Alvarez are and they sell out venues in Mexico as well.

Alot of people in Canada kow who Bute and Pascal are and they're filling venues as well.

                The problem lies in America.

yea man...no joke to it...there's something sick and sadistic inside all of us that make us infatuated with a sport where two men beat each other senseless with their fists

                  its not for everyone

Grass Root type movements that use boxing gyms as a medium to keep kids from not only stay out of trouble, but also to help keep them focused on academic performance as well. Use boxing as the glue to keep young kids on the right track, whatever they may pursue in life.
