Moreover when he was in serious contention to be Martinez's opponent earlier this year, there were no complaints.

Obviously when Martinez found out Manfredo wasn't a 154lb goat farmer, he immediately vetoed the fight.

Obiously they both arent regarded among the best out there in that division, but it would be a GREAT FIGHT. Their style will make for a toe to toe brawl and it should be good for mainstream exposure.

Yes Martinez would kill anyone in the division but the risk/reward is not there for Arum. Rubio is a legit fighter but the fight would get very little US attention.

I accept the fact Chavez isnt anywhere near elite, but i think it would be a great fight for the casual fan. Both guys show up to fight regardless of their talent level.

I agree with this statement. I don't understand what all the hate is. No one is saying Chavez jr is the second coming of Sugar Ray, or anything like that. The kid is who he is, makes exciting fights, fights often, and brings fans to boxing.
Chavez vs Manfredo is a better fight than Rubio as far as entertainment goes. I would rather see these two guys fight even if they're not the best than watch a boring fight between two top guys i.e. Bradley/Alexander.

His fight with Lacy was terrible and he lost. Casual fans dont remember his loss to Calzaghe, and nobody cares about the Contender anymore.
Sergio Martinez had been putting on awesome fights against top fighters back to back to back to back on HBO. Ridiculous post.

I was looking at the title holders the other day and this has got to be the weakest class of title olders in middleweight history.. Manfredo is certainlycapable of winning this fight.. has Chavez fought anyone better???? I know Manfredo has fought a bunch of mguys much better than Chavez

Strange that Manfredo is a step up in class for Chavez Jr.

If Chavez wants a gimme for his first defense before Sulaiman pimp hands him about the Martinez obligation, Manfredo can be his man. I forgot that guy existed. Shouldn't be much of a problem for Jnr to get rid of him.

Chavez Jr will be a horrible champion! I look forward to the day when he fights a B class fighter & puts a beating on him, but seem like Chavez will stick w the C & D fighters.

I feel bad for Sergio Martinez... Dibella is not interested making things happen for him. I know that every promoter must take every opportunity he has to make money for his fighters but at this point dibella should understand that he -dibella- is costing his fighter all the opportunities to find the fighters glory in the public. Sergio has a right to demand he be allowed to leave his promoter and move on to a company with better resources. I don't care if he fights chavez, in fact it is bellow him. However, he is at the top of his game in much the same way Pacquiao is, yet fighters take fights with pac knowing that they may take a beating because they know it is an opportunity to secure yourself financially, no one is willing to take those chances with sergio and especially not fighter with smart promoters. Sergio needs to make things happen for himself in the public arena, anything to get attention, his fights are great but he needs more, he needs to date a kardashian or something, go crazy on tweeter or get arrested... Lou Dibella fails is what I'm trying to say
