Why do people call Wlad "weak-chinned" when he's proven otherwise?

Not really. He still makes some very valid points.

Weak chin or not,Wlad's evolved into the type of fighter that any puncher would hate to fight. He doesn't leave openings or waste an unnecessary amount of energy like he used to do.As he recently said, those two loss "were excellent to have" - meaning they improved him as a fighter. Most others would have completely fallen apart and began a dramatic downward spiral into irrelevancy after going what he went through.Wlad proved his greatness by picking himself up off of the mat, reclaiming his title and dominating the division with an iron fist.

He took some real good shots in the early going against Sam Peter last September.I know alot of people must have been surprised to see him just shake the shots off as if they were nothing.

Wlad hasn't been knocked down in years, since 2005. His chin is underrated.

Wlad was never down in his first 21 fights.

          1) He had a flash knockdown in his 22nd fight against Steve Pannell (33-4) in 1998, he wasn't hurt at all. He absolutely destroyed Pannell in the 2nd round

          2) He was down once in round 10 in his 25th fight against Puritty in 1998, but that was due to exhaustion not his chin. Wlad had been showing off against the durable American his hometown Kiev fans, throwing too many punches and moving around the ring too much for a man his size. Purrity was 24 pounds bigger at 6'5" and 249 than the slender young Wlad, and used a very tight "Philly Shell" defense that had enabled him to last the distance against other punchers like Rahman, Sanders and Morrison.

          3) 4) 5) His third knockdown was in his 42nd fight, against Corrie Sanders in 2003. It was caused by an illegal head butt not a punch, which gave Wlad a nasty cut. He never really recovered and was a sitting duck after the headbutt, and was knocked down twice more until the fight was stopped.

          6) 7) Really down ONCE in the Brewster fight, his 45th, and he also fell from exhaustion at the end. Wlad fought well and was dominating Brewster until the last minute of the 5th round, but as Larry Merchant pointed out, he wasn't pacing himself. He also had some low blood sugar problem.

          8) Meaningless flash knockdown/slip against Williamson, Wlad's 46th fight.

          9) 10) 11) Wlad's 48th fight was against Sam Peter. Two of Peter's knockdowns were not really knockdowns: one was from a rabbit punch, and another was from a combination push & rabbit punch.

          His knockdowns:

          - Two flash knockdowns/slips (Pannell and Williamson)
          - Three illegal knockdowns (head butt from Sanders, rabbit punch and combination push/rabbit punch from Peter)
          - Three "knockdowns" when he was exhausted (Purrity, and Brewster X 2)
          - Two knockdowns after being dazed by a headbutt from Sanders
          - One legit knockdown from Peter

He doesn't have a bad chin. He failed to pace himself in the Brewster and Purrity fights.

He used to be hit by headbutts (Monroe I, Sanders, Brock, Thompson) but he's more wary of those now.

And Wlad knows how to deal with rabbit punch attempts, which he'll need to do with Haye (Wlad pretty much avoided rabbit punches in Peter II with just one landing, while Peter got Helenius with many).

Wlad's defense, footwork and balance has improved so we haven't been seeing any more flash knockdowns like in the Pannell and Williamson fights.

Well he doesnt have a great chin, that would be Vitaliy.

But on a scale of 0-10 Id give him a solid 7.

This is due to the fact that even though he gets knocked down, and when he does it is from punches that majority of heavyweights would simply get KOd from, he comes back to fight, gets right back up, and actually wins the fight.

Look at the Peter fight, once again, prior to the fight all the hype was that Peter was tailor made to take out Wlad. And look what happend...the guy went down three times and came back to win the fight and nearly KOd Peter in the 12th.

So honestly, even if Haye was to KD Wlad, he's getting KTFO a round or two following.

That's a different person, not my alt.

Ever notice the 50,000 fans at the Klitschko fights? Has it ever occurred to you that Wlad has more than one fan?

                You're very ******.

Don't just make the statement. Back it up. Give me some examples of the weak chin you're talking about. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, you don't take the shot Peter landed on Wlad in their first fight and shrug it off if your chinny.

guys, hes been hurt and down by punches that many fighters wouldnt have been shaken by at all. Im not saying that Wladimir is god awful or that he will get knocked out by any decent punch that hits him, buts its obvious that when you fight him your strategy is either to drain his stamina or tap his chin.

his chin is not the worst, but its obvious its a weakness.
