Lineal, schmineal. Just let me know how often the ww lineal changed hands in that era, to decide if it was meaningful.

I personally believe Vernon Forrest ****ed that whole division up by losing to Mayorga.
he did, because had he not been injured you would have seen forrest vs spinks, or forest vs zab or forrest vs mayweather

as much as i love and defend mayweather, i see floyd possibly losing that fight, hes a horrible matchup for floyd.

but honestly, floyd hasnt fought a top rank fight since he left. and to be honest, margaritos biggest win is under su****ion, his run at welter in hindsight was pretty average considering his losses to paul williams and shane mosley, it wasnt a bad run, but it wasnt some Hopkins like tear neither.

its not excuse, but i can see why cotto and margarito never materialized after he left the company, because at the end of the day, having oscar on his resume will always be more notable than both.

laughing out loud @ people who think Margarito was a more valid opponent for Mayweather in '06 than Baldomir

laughing out loud @ people who think Miguel Cotto was a more valid opponent for Mayweather from 05-07 than Ricky Hatton.

      Revisionist history at it's finest.

Now let me hop in my time machine for a sec....

      Alternate scenario:

Mayweather stays with top rank, gives one sided thrashings to both Cotto & Margarito. Never gets around to fighting Hatton & Baldomir (because he can't pass up a megafight with De La Hoya) Hatton & Baldomir remain dominant in their respective divisions for the next couple years. Here is what the general narrative would be of the armchair boxing community.

Oh that coward ducker Mayweather with his cherry picked incomplete career. He ducked undefeated p4p ranked Ricky Hatton to fight a GREEN Miguel Cotto who was untested and heavily flawed, and ducked Carlos Baldomir who was the lineal welterweight champ and hadn't lost a fight in nearly a decade to fight a slow, flat footed Margarito who's only meaningful victory was against a overrated Kermit Cintron. He can never be considered a true great because he didn't fight a prime Ricky Hatton & Carlos Baldomir
      Sounds pretty ridiculous, doesn't it?

Hit the nail right on the head.

Those who read between the lines know the truth. Bob can manipulate the media all he wants, but the truth always bubbles up to the surface. That's one thing no one can cover up for long.

Pacman has already agreed for that random testing, problem is Floyd jr., continues to duck Pacman.

See if Floyd Jr really wants to fight Pacman, then he could have negotiated the proposed fight, while Pacman has not yet agreed to fight Marquez.

If Manny and Bob really wanted the fight they would've fought back in 09.

Everybody can now see Manny's been running away (with uncle Bob's help) from Floyd for the longest. It's no secret anymore.
