Arum isn't involved in this fight at all, so why does he care? He should stick to his job and find good opponents this fall for Cotto and Chavez Jr, and he'll have his own little superfight next year. I think now is as good a time as any to put Ortiz in with Mayweather. He is riding sky high and judging by his comments about Floyd is not short on confidence. He may not win, but who has against Floyd?

But let us not take away the moment from all Floyd fans in this forum. They haven't had any good news from Floyd for over a year. It's a hard life for them when a fighter they idolized run away and go vacation somewhere for over a year instead of fighting Pacquiao. It's hard defending Floyd all the time, especially when he contradicts himself in the same interview. What I don't understand though, what happened in vacation? Why is Floyd back all of a sudden? 1 year is such a short time for a multi-millionanire to go on vacation, unless your vacation spot is the court room.Comment

Everyone should ignore what this old goat says. He's jealous because other people can hype up mismatches just as well as himComment

Yeah, why not tell boxingscene to write stuff that you like to read. After all, everybody has the same taste as you. How can they be so dumb not to realize that?Comment

I completely agree. He's singlehandedly destroying boxing and when every word that comes out of his mouth is reported on a daily basis, all it's doing is speeding up the process.Comment

If Ortiz was signed with Top Rank and was allowed to fight Pac the story would be different. Arum would be saying how Ortiz is a good champion who deserves a shot and all the usual BS he says.
Can't really say I'm surprised. No one should expect Arum to praise a fight that he is not promoting.Comment

It is indeed a mismatch, coming from your mouth. Boxing is a promoter's game too, selling stuff like this **** and call it great. Don King did that, and who else didn't? and isn't it funny how people in this forum calling themselves true fan of boxing refuse to see that point. It's like taking away credit from a coach in a basketball match.Comment

You call that confidence? That sounds like hyping-up and promoting a fight to me, more than anything else. Typical Gayweather fashion. Ortiz must have been coached to say these stuff to make it look like he's hungry for this fight. We'll he'll get paid, but he will get scraps of whatever falls from Gayweather's plate. Unless you can tell me how greedy businessman Gayweather can afford to pay Ortiz a fair amount of money that he deserves, because Floyd never do that. Marquez got scraps, Ortiz will get scraps as well.Comment
