Since Ortiz is going to be around 25 and has a pretty good amount of experience as an amateur and professional, I would say he might be just about ready to assume his prime years. 25 is mid career for some fighters. It just depends on the individual. He has been tested in a crucible-like fight with Maidana and that experience probably made him stronger. I was very impressed with Ortiz's muscularity in the Berto fight. He is clearly maturing physically.

Although Mayweather does keep himself in superior physical shape. 34 is getter closer to the retirement stage for a fighter. He is generally inactive in terms of live fighting.

This might not be the mismatch it is presumed to be. The 10 years difference in age might make up for some of Mayweather's other advantages.

ranking doesnt always equate to reality. fact still remains ortiz got beat by a one dimensional fighter. Dont make ortiz something he isnt just for you to **** ride floyd. He got beat by maidana who almost lost to an old morales. put some perspective into your nuthugging.

That was 2 years ago. He just had a defining win at a whole new division over an undefeated fighter. Obviously he learned from the Maidana experience. I can understand if Ortiz didn't improve or develop heart after the Maidana loss but he did and did it impressively. Don't try to discredit Ortiz because Mayweather is fighting him because Pac fans are already getting exposed on here by "DE100" for saying a Pac/Ortiz fight will be competitive and a good scrap. Atleast Ortiz won his last fight impressively. What has Manny last opponents done? Why do you think the sport of boxing is buzzing over Floyd coming back and taking on Ortiz and why so many was disappointed by Pac's choices of Clottey, Margarito and Shane. Ortiz is a better fight, bottomline.
