I highly doubt is about age due to Martinez :ending his career in 1-2 years".
not saying serg won't be on hbo. he will be.

i'm just saying they're not just gonna invest in him like they did to the youngers like berto for example.

just because glen johnson and bernard hopkins can fight in their 40's doesn't mean a lot of people can.

it's kinda safe to say someone in their mid 30's would not be around for much longer.

Firstly Hopkin's has had his flops on HBO but has a name for himself. He is making history.
Glen Johnson I assume, who is fairly exciting, but had his name out there before too.
      JMM also.

Martinez has not fought an Oscar, a Roy Jones, a Pac toget his name out.

In fact he has faced relatively weak guys if you look at what weight they fought, when or what mentality they had.

Also they put Serg over Cotto.

Lost them Pac and Mosely and a few million I guess. Martinez doesn't sell well.

Chvez Jr may not have sold well in seats, but uad the best non ppv viewers since a while from reading an article today. I think 2007?

I think the most comparable fighter Arum has to Martinez is Nonito Donaire. He's talking smack about Dibella not being able to promote a fighter, but what has Arum done to give Donaire a name? Nobody knows who the hell Nonito Donaire despite being one of the best fighters of the world. I bet more people know who Martinez is than Donaire. And Martinez doesn't have the advantage of large Argentinian American population like there his for American Philipinos. Not to mention that Bob Arum has Manny Pacquiao to help out with Nonito.

Well, Hopkins is still lively and has stated his intentions to continue fighting indefinitely. Martinez on the other hand made the mistake of telling HBO he only had a few fights in him left.

Lou cannot sit on the fence with this. he has to shop around.

It is like this. Arum flexed his arm a while back and threatened to take his cash cow away from HBO. HBO will be kissing his behind for the foreseeable future. They also never strayed from kissing Oscar's behind.

HBO is going to be trying to please the big boys to keep them from jumping to Showtime.

Where does that leave Lou? Well hopefully he will be calling Showtime, Espn etc. We know he is not doing that though. You can tell from the article.

they did pick serg over cotto.

big mistake imo. cotto does great ratings.

pac-mosley was not connected though. showtime just gave them a better offer.

                  that's what i don't get.

lou is complaining about how hbo picks his fighters and he has to wait for hbo dates.

is he a promoter or is he still working for hbo?

pick your fighter's opponents. find him dates. get him fights.

btw i still don't understand why cotto-vanes wasn't a good fight for hbo.

cotto always draws ratings and vanes is a good fighter.

                    hbo doesn't make sense sometimes.

Nonito is earning more than any of the other Bantam's.

It is a lot harder to get their names out because of their weight.

Martinez doesn't even earn cotto money yet.

Arum has many fighters who earn a lot, heck probably more 500k a fight fighters than Lou has top prize fighters.

As to Tua, I believe when Arum was angry at Cotto beinf refused, he said HBo will suffer for that. Then a few days after, Showtime rumours came up for Pac.

                      Maybe you are right though.
