Ortiz is big enough to fight at JMW.

      End thread right here.\

Poll is useless until both have fought common opponents. Good thing about it is we will know soon. If Ortiz does worse than Marquez, then the latter could theoretically be considered the better welter.

Marquez fought the best while Ortiz fought what is considered to be a hypejob. Saying Ortiz is a better welterweight on the basis of a Berto win doesn't seem to make sense at this point. Would Marquez be competitive against Berto? Styles make fights. We won't know until they fight, which will most likely never happen. The Ortiz-May fight will definitely give us a rough idea.

I see the agenda of this thread, as usual.

It'll be easier to answer after Mayweather fights Ortiz. I reckon Floyd is gonna have an easier time with Ortiz and is going to batter him silly, so you could maybe say Marquez.

Size was a factor in the Floyd-Marquez fight, skill and experience will be a bigger one in Floyd-Ortiz.

Well let me try to get green.

Gayweather is fighting Ortiz, a no talented BUM!! Marquez is a legend at WW, much better than Ortiz who got a lucky draw over Lamont.

When will Gayweather stop trying to fight Madiana's leftovers and fight Pac?

Ortiz is, and he should have moved up a long time ago.

This question shouldn't even be asked. JMM beat nobody at ww, Ortiz beat Berto. End of discussion.

Simple question and some ppl are trying to twist it. Anything over 140 lb to 147 lb is a WW.

Both fighters have fought above 140 and at this point it is obvious that Ortiz is a better WW if they both fought WW full time.

No knock on JMM he is a great fighter but at this higher weight doesn't look like he would be as competitive as in the lower weights
