Are people that dumb? Do you think promoters/HBO likes to LOSE money? 40 mil is ALOT of money for 1 FIGHTER. There is no way HBO fronting floyd 40mil unless its against Pacq.

People think money grows on trees, for 40m HBO can put on shows all year round and make way more cash.

But Floyd is the #1 guy to listen to when it comes to money, not like he ever lied about how much he made or ever paid his taxes

The budget for this fight was probably 42mil and Ortiz is making 2mil. He has absolutely zero bargaining power here and is just happy to get a crack at Floyd. Props to him for taking the fight.

Personally, I think Floyd's combined purse along with ppv upside can amount to $40mil, but I dont see HBO/GBP committing to a $40mil guarantee for Floyd against a fighter with both an unproven fanbase and lack of drawing power such as Ortiz.

Floyd has a history of lying about his purse amounts. He claimed he made $20mil for his wrestlemania appearance when it was actually $2mil. He also claimed he made $70mil for his bout with Mosley! LOL. No way.

I agree, Mayweather does lie about his purse.

I mean, I dont give a ****, he deserves what he makes, but I know that he has lied because he proved it by contradicting himself about his purse in the Mosley fight, as well as the 3 previous fights before that.

Agreed. Ortiz is probably even more marketable than Martinez. Floyd with be able to have another year off after this one but I hope he keeps active, even if he goes after someone like Canelo or Cotto I dont mind. Ive accepted that Pac-May will probably never happen.

I love this fight i dont think ortiz can beat floyd but he has the power to catch him and maybe put him down. the only bad thing about this is that with that kind of money to floyd that means he'll probably take time off until he runs out of money again and 40 mil plus ppv buys that means thats a long vacation for floyd which means not manny vs floyd. but still i like this match up. hopefully ortiz shows up.
