Your thoughts on Mikkel Kessler's return.

I haven't seen any threads on this yet, shockingly. But for those who saw the fight, what were your impressions?

Personally, I was very impressed. He had good technique, he was sharp, spot on, and seemed to be in good form. From what I saw in his fight against Froch, he seemed to be lacking that pop or explosiveness. Against Bouadla, it looked like he had it back. Of course, Bouadla isn't on the level of a Carl Froch or Andre Ward, but still, overall I thought the guy looked good. I'm glad he got about 6 rounds in, a few more rounds couldn't hurt but 6 is nice.

    Thoughts?

@danrafaelespn How big is Mikkel Kessler in Denmark? His fight peaked at 1.137 million viewers, a 66 share of all Danish TVs in use. Amazing. #boxingalive

      ^ from dan rafael's twitter.

Crazy numbers for a man on the decline, dont see any american fighter doing this.

I thought he looked pretty good, but looking great against average opponents doesn't always translate to the world class guys. We'll see what's up when/if he gets his title shot.

I thought he looked good. He did what he should do and that is dominate an inferiour opponent.

Offense looked arguably better and definetely more varied than ever. Good jabs, more hooks and an impressive bodywork. He also set a very fast pace as a testament to his great shape/cardio.

On the defense I thought he was a little more open than previously. He took too many shots I dont think he would have taken 3-4 years ago. So reflexes might have eroded a bit. Either that or maybe he was so eager to show the american viewers a dazzling display of offensive powerpunching that he neglected defense against the lightpunching Brouadla.

Infighting still looks a problem as I thought the smaller man made the better work on the inside catching Kessler with one particular good looking left hand.

Now this was only a comeback/tuneup fight and as such it was a very good performance as Kessler showed he is ready for Bute or Stieglitz and judged from that point of view I'd give the dane a B+.

The only missing in that fight was his defense.

Hope his eye is ok. Also hope he is 100% before he gets into the ring with Bute.
