The simple answer is crap promoter, he changed to match room and straight away he was on Sky.

He will be mainstream from now on, win or lose.

Because he wasn't with Sky Sports.

        couple of reasons why -

the average UK 'boxing fan' is fcuk clueless about fighters unless they are dangled under their nose via Sky. Froch used to be with ITV and was relativelty big, then he left them and received hardly any mainstream coverage - hence why he's relatively unknown.

Also, he's had **** promotion with hennessey. No coverage, no pre-fight build up with the UK public. So people don't know about him.

I think ultimatley, if they aren't built up via Sky then the general 'casual' UK boxing fan just forget about them and they fall off the radar.

I think he will now be thrown into the limelight now he's with Sky.

A prime example is Harrison - he's probably a more recognised name than froch. Sad but true

          its about marketing
he needs to have better self promotion rather then solely relying on his promoter

All of this. It's not racism, it's not about the wrong personality or anything else, it's purely poor promotion and not getting that Sky deal until now. That's why he used to chase the Calzaghe fight.

Thing is though, its about 5 fights too late. Had sky got him for Pascal onwards he'd be huge by now. Now he has to beat Ward which he might not do (hope he does but dont think he will) for sky to throw their full weight behind him and get him on ppv.

Hope Froch can prove me wrong, he's done it before.
Yep, but he might've been 'protected' then by the Sky money-men and taken easier fights like Bute.

I don't think he's too late because he hasn't mentioned retiring which means he'll continue to fight the best and with Sky he'll make more money. I can't wait for the Kessler rematch.

Boxing isn't a mainstream sport anymore in the UK because of ITV & BBC won't pay for it, it some ways I'm not suprised as it seems to cost a **** load to put any kind of half decent event together.
Hardly any British boxers have been household name since Bruno, Lewis, Eubank.
Khan was in the olympics, Haye heavily promotes himself.

Frochs old promoter was **** as well.

He had a fairly ordinary promoter.

The only things outside boxing I have seen him on is the Weakest Link.

That said Calzaghe was never popular for a long, long time. The Lacy fight was his coming out party and he was what? 34.

Him fighting all over the place isn't helping either.

Fighting in Helsinki was bizarre, and did that Johnson fight really have to take place in America? that meant we had to stay up until 3 a.m. to watch it, and who is going to do that but a hardcore boxing fan?

Froch has made big sacrifices in this tournament. More than any other fighter. And his promoter has got consistently out-maneuvered at the negotiation table.

The sad thing is Carlos probably loses to Ward and returns from America with 2 losses in the bank and a bit of a loss in momentum.

No, because his former promoter was a tool, and a very poor promoter. Has a new promoter now and is getting him a lot more media coverage.

Perhaps it IS his arrogant personality and lack of appeal for fans...

I have a hard time rooting and connecting with him, despite being a great fighter.

You are watching a the guy fight, not dating him, or is that how you judge fighters as some you could have long walks the beach with
