but yet he wants the young , green chavez who barely won a title last night.

    double standards and hypocrisy.
Martinez and Chavez exchanged words and challenges back in 2009, but Chavez's people assured him he didn't have a chance in hell so he ducked the fight. Now Sergio is the champ and Chavez and the WBC are still trying to find a way to push Sergio out of the way; finding a way to let Chavez fight Zbik for Martinez's title he won by kicking Pavliks ass.

How is this not the fight for Martinez? Chavez ducked him, and his people and the WBC got together to strip Martinez of his title and allow Chavez to fight a bum (that still beat him) for Martinez's title. Posters such as myself and many other have been making threads about this being the WBCs plan for a year now.

This has nothing to do with hypocrisy, this has to do with corruption in boxing with the WBC and Bob Arum stealing a world title from a fighter because they knew Chavez Jr couldn't win the title in the ring.

Arum is not above criticism imo.
i think the blame goes both ways on that one.

No one said he's a ppv star, but arum actually makes a small profit and keeps his fighter in the spotlight with those crappy ppvs. Chavez is now becoming a ticket seller in la, and if you watched the fight you could hear his fans who were dedicated to him.

These things take time to build.

That's a lot more than Martinez or dibella can say right now. He brings nothing to the table.

          chavez isn't very good right?

so if you're all about fighters fighting the best possible opponents , shouldn't you want martinez to fight sturm , pirog and them who have better claims to sergio's lineal title?

why are you letting martinez cherry pick a hypejob , unproven fighter like chavez?

and who cares about WBC belts. paper belts.

the only champion that matters is the ring/lineal champion.

that's martinez and he should be fighting the #1 ranked guy in sturm.

not cherrypicking like people accuse chavez of doing.

True. I'll give you that. Its just so many good scraps that we couldve had.

I remember during "The Decision" phone conference he said he wouldnt match Pac up with Williams or some other guy I cant remember, because he didnt want them to piggy back off Pacs sucess. I just think that is very selfish thinking.

Pac will make his Millions regardless who he fights.

Chavez jr is the biggest fight Martinez is going to get right now, and the world titles are the only way Martinez is going to get anyone to fight him. Why? Because he's the best, and if there's any way to duck him on the way to getting a world title, then thats what fighters are going to do.

For example, Julio Cesar Chavez jr.

Fighters these days don't want to fight someone as good as Sergio unless it includes a multimillion dollar payday, but if they're unable to win a worle title without fighting a guy then theyre going to HAVE to.

Martinez has nobody to build up against. He's hit the wall at his division. Right now, since Chavez won a belt, that's the biggest fight he's going to get. And even at that he's not getting that one right away either. I don't think he'll move to 168. Best he can do is knock off the rest of the ranked names at 160, even if they aren't stars, other than Chavez.

the biggest money fight for martinez is chavez.

that's why it's okay for him to fight him.

well guess what cotto is the biggest money fight for chavez and that's why he'll probably go for that.

both fighters and both promoters are both doing the same thing.

It's not selfish. The time and money put into building these fighters rarely turns a profit. When it does you protect it.

These other promoters don't do half what top rank does. Look at guys like margarito, pacman, cotto, nonito, Chavez, top rank spent years and was losing money on all of them before they turned a profit.

Even that zbinkski kid, the NFL p,Ayer was making bank, you think he turned any profit? Heck no, arum did it for future possibilities.

Other promoters ain't putting in that kind of work.

Martinez wants Sturm. Sturm doesn't want Martinez. This is common knowledge.
