I think it is clear from my earlier post that it was not a question of knowledge. There's plenty of info in the news brief and the mistake was explained in my earlier post. Cheers!
Nah, we're bona fide boxing fans who also work full time in most instances and occasionally have to pull a late one. This was sent through in the early hours UK time and the mistake stems from cutting bits out rather than a gap in knowledge, as shown by the fact that I included Kessler's ring record and mention of Calzaghe.
The sentence was supposed to ref the the fact Kessler had lost his '0' to Joe in Cardiff and then add the Ward defeat. I added the Calzaghe fight a few paras further on and obviously then didn't edit the previous para in the right way. My bad but there's a lot of facts in there that are right and both his losses are mentioned and in the correct order in one of the final paras.
As for his performance. People have complained that the upper body movement has not been brought in but how many fighters become more flexible as they age? Few or none would be my guess. Guys with great upper body movement such as Tyson and Shane lost it in their mid-20s and had to adapt.
Kessler never had it, has always been pretty stiff and used his parrying and guard to compensate, this was missing the other night, he looked more open than usual and needs to tighten his defence but under no circumstances should he be working on rolling his upper body. Too long in the tooth for this.
Good to see his left hook going, adding the balance he lacked in earlier fights but the mistakes that saw him lose to Calzaghe are still there. This said, Bute is not as effective as Calzaghe and I'd fancy Kessler to land on Lucian when he opens himself up for those uppercuts to the body and other shots. Time will tell on that one.
Cheers for the reads and cut me a break RE spliced sentence!
