Kessler easily dismantled an inferiour foe thereby proving that he is back. He showed a tremendous workrate and his offensive arsenal seems improved since the Froch fight. The accurate jab was back and he threw some outstanding hooks particularly to the body.

Now bring on Stieglitz or Bute.

Lol I'm new to this site, but I have to ask, Do Boxing Scene members write the articles on this site or is sports journalists? Mikkel looked pretty good yesterday, he needed that break.

Whether Ward beats him depends on the referee. Ward was allowed to headbutt Kessler 5 times to the point where Mikkel couldn't see by Round 6 and the fight had to be stopped. That isn't legit.

Nah, we're bona fide boxing fans who also work full time in most instances and occasionally have to pull a late one. This was sent through in the early hours UK time and the mistake stems from cutting bits out rather than a gap in knowledge, as shown by the fact that I included Kessler's ring record and mention of Calzaghe.

The sentence was supposed to ref the the fact Kessler had lost his '0' to Joe in Cardiff and then add the Ward defeat. I added the Calzaghe fight a few paras further on and obviously then didn't edit the previous para in the right way. My bad but there's a lot of facts in there that are right and both his losses are mentioned and in the correct order in one of the final paras.

As for his performance. People have complained that the upper body movement has not been brought in but how many fighters become more flexible as they age? Few or none would be my guess. Guys with great upper body movement such as Tyson and Shane lost it in their mid-20s and had to adapt.

Kessler never had it, has always been pretty stiff and used his parrying and guard to compensate, this was missing the other night, he looked more open than usual and needs to tighten his defence but under no circumstances should he be working on rolling his upper body. Too long in the tooth for this.

Good to see his left hook going, adding the balance he lacked in earlier fights but the mistakes that saw him lose to Calzaghe are still there. This said, Bute is not as effective as Calzaghe and I'd fancy Kessler to land on Lucian when he opens himself up for those uppercuts to the body and other shots. Time will tell on that one.

Cheers for the reads and cut me a break RE spliced sentence!

Its good to see Kessler back..And his return was ok..I was surpised how easy he got tag to be honest..Not much head movement if any ..Though his punches were nice and heavy..
