Damn you! Oscar de la Hoya carried boxing on his back for two decades. He was the PPV King of HBO. And same with Mike Tyson who kept boxing relevant the baddest man on Earth. A PPV Emperor of Showtime. Seriously, without those two where would boxing be. Roy Jones Jr. and Pernell Whitaker names that most people outside the hardcore boxing fans and casual boxing fans no one knows who they are.

Heres another *******. You can't be serious??? Lol, we can also say where would boxing be without Mayweather then, because he's obviously the biggest cash cow since Oscar, because he and Oscar surpassed Tyson vs Holyfield.

And for some reason, why didn't Pacquiao vs Oscar do the same??

Oscar vs Pacquiao, why didn't that fight do 2.1 million PPV?

How about boxing writers screwed that fight from the very beginning. Boxing fans and writers wrote the fight off as a mismatch and Oscar cherry picking a smaller guy for a comeback fight.

How about Oscar didn't even attempt to choose any of the top Welterweights to make a comeback fight. Miguel Cotto was open. Antonio Margarito was open. Paul Williams was open. You know who he chose? He offered Ricky Hatton the fight before Pacquiao. His reason was Hatton can fill up any stadium with his British fans, he was undefeated, and he will get a share in U.K. PPV.

How about everyone from hardcore boxing fans to boxing writers didn't like the fight. No one supported the fight. So, no wonder the PPV didn't do so well. I think the running theme against Pacquiao is that anyone he fights there will always be a flaw and a reason not to support his PPV fights.

AND FOR YOUR OWN KNOWLEDGE, Oscar de la Hoya's PPV number always came in the hundreds of thousands. No wonder, OSCAR vs floyd did 2.1 million PPV it was all because of Oscar, Mexican-Americans, and Mexicans who bought the PPV. Look at floyd's PPV and he barely pulled a million. floyd's shining PPV came against the PPV King Oscar. Also, Pacquiao's record and consistency in delivering PPV numbers has been in the high numbers. THAT IS WHY SHOWTIME WANTS TO KEEP PACQUIAO and TOP RANK. The PPV numbers of Showtime are:

Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Mayorga = 250,000 PPV
Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosely = 1.2M PPV
            Total of 1.5M PPV buys

            HBO
Erik Morales vs Marcos Maidana = 50,000 PPV
            Total of 50K PPV buys

No wonder, Showtime is trying its best to promote Manny Pacquiao and retain his services with Top Rank Promotions who knows how to promote and make PPVs.

Next, Oscar de la Hoya's name carries weight throughout the South American continent. Whereas, floyd no one knows who he is except him being scared against the Filipino boxer. South America knows floyd as a boxer terrified of the Filipino boxer.

Real Mexicans who live in Mexico don't even respect floyd. Puerto Ricans know that floyd is scared. Only *****s create this illusion that their fighter is in a religious journey of self awareness and cleaning up the sport of boxing.

And your statement even supported my freaking my point. Are you ******? I wrote Oscar was the PPV King and Tyson was the PPV Emperor. And you followed it up by stating Tyson vs Holyfield made history in having the most PPV buys and broken only by Oscar vs floyd. You see those two names TYSON and OSCAR who I wrote were PPV monsters. Now, get back to your hole.

              Showtime PPV numbers of 2011:

Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Mayorga = 250,000 PPV at $49.95 SD, available HD
Manny Pacquiao vs Sugar Shane Mosley = 1.2M PPV at $54.95 SD, $64.95 HD

Let us do some basic math:

              250,000 x 49.95 = $12,487,500
              1,200,000 x 54.95 = $65,940,000

              So, $12,487,500 + $65,940,000 = $78,427,500 total

              But the proper way is:

$12,487,500 x 40% (Top Rank and boxers' percentage of PPV) = $4,995,000 this is the total that Top Rank and boxers made.

              So, $12,487,500 - $4,995,000 = $7,492,500 Showtime made in their first PPV

Again, $65,940,000 x 55% (Top Rank and boxers' percentage of PPV) =
$36,267,000 this is the total that Top Rank and boxers made.

              $65,940,000 - $36,267,000 = $29,673,000 Showtime made

*Note: The percentage is bigger because the boxers' name are bigger. So, it will make sense that the fighters will demand more cut in the PPV numbers.

$7,492,500 + $29,673,000 = $37,165,500 Showtime made in 6 months. And this the first year that Showtime and Top Rank are making business in PPVs. Think about next year, when Showtime and Top Rank are fully entrenched then they will make more PPVs.

              Now, with HBO's PPV:

Erik Morales vs Marcos Maidana = 50,000 PPV

*Note: 50,000 PPV buys reported by Steve Kim of Max Boxing. Uncontested by Dan Rafael, Golden Boy Promotions and HBO.

              So, 50,0000 x $44.95 = $2,275,000

And I'm not even going to do the proper way just because how small the final amount would be.

So, yea, I honestly think that Top Rank with Showtime is so profitable that I would see better original Showtime shows coming up because boxing is so damn profitable. If you think about it farther, the only reason why HBO was able to make a lot of original shows is because of HBO PPV boxing. Where else is HBO going to get extra cash? HBO gets it in the PPV buys. A fact that they forgot.
