It's not black and white. However, Pacquiao, like Trinidad, has a huge fanbase in which a large portion of it is made up of casual fans and people who support him strictly because he is the same race as theirs.

The love for Trinidad from Puerto Ricans was the same. Pssh.

I remember when he announced his comeback against Jones, Jr. and thinking, "This guy is nuts. God bless his heart, but he's fighting strictly for cash." All the while, the casual fans are going, "Oh, my God! Tito's back! He's gonna' be the best fighter in boxing again!"

    Ugh...

Well, in fairness there are certainly worse choices of fighters to nuthug (99.9% of the fighters who DO get nuthugged). Villa was an outstanding fighter and any discussion about the Flyweight GOAT that leaves him out is just wrong and ignorant. His problem is his weight class: Flyweight is the least covered and least followed out of the Old School 8.

I didn't say Villa beat Mclarnin, I said he fought him, heck he fought him with badly swollen gums and had to fight with one hand throughout the fight covering his mouth, and as expected, he lost the decision. Now that's a warrior.

With Wilde at the end of his career? Well, unlike now that we have the advent of IT and the internet where you'd find every info about a boxer who's shot to **** or still bringing it ala Bhop, back in the day you wouldn't know if Wilde was fading at that time, unless of course, you lived to watch him fight and train. I'll go on saying that it's not a proven fact so for me its a misconception and one of the excuses.

No one gave Pancho a chance when he met Wilde and when Villa took Wilde to school Pancho silenced the doubters and will always remain asia's GOAT!

I'm not the most knowledgeable poster out there. I'm not even close, nor am I the most knowledgeable Pac fan out there. not even close.

But, I'm quite confident that I know more about the sport and it's history than the TS does. I'm also quite positive that I know more than the poster who calls himself boxingfollower.
