I know this might sound a bit wacky, but of all people that Mayweather fought at 140 and 147, I think Cotto might actually have the most problems with Arturo Gatti. People quickly forget that Cotto was not durable at 140 at all due to weight drain and/or inexperience, and was doing the chicken dance against Torres and Corley, despite hurting both.

Thats the kind of fight that Gatti is hard to count out of, and say what you will about how flawed and incomplete his style is, but if an unelusive opponent in front of him, he could tee off pretty well. That just might be hell for the plodder, fragile version of 140lb Cotto.

I have no doubt that 147lb Cotto beats Judah, Baldomir, and the older version of Mosley that Mayweather fought.

people make way too big of a deal about resumes...floyd beat all comers at 130-135 and then went for the big money fights at the higher weight classes...so what if cotto beats all of floyd's opponents ar 40-47, floyd would still destroy him and conversely floyd beats all of cotto's opponents at 140-147 including the 2 cotto lost to, margarito and pacman

this is just another atempt to discredit floyd, one can say cotto's resume at 140-147 is better than manny's aswell.

Great thread!!! I think Cotto does not beat Gatti or Hoya but he beats the rest...

Cotto is a great fighter and is not overrated at least before the margotrito beat Down... He's not the same fighter anymore...

yeah, remember Larry Merchant asked floyd after the hatton win... Cotto is a young lion who is undefeated like you, when are you going to fight him... floyd says "Cotto is one hell of a champion, Im not calling out no welterweights & Im RETIRING", b1tch move

Obviously you wasn't on this forum before the Margarito fight. People were saying Cotto would go down as an ATG and that he'd beat Mayweather.
