And GBP hasn't even sold 50k ppvs this year and is desperately trying to avoid bankruptcy.

If I was Top Rank and I wanted one of my fighters to fight one of their fighters I would want 100% control and profits from the fight. Top Rank is doing just fine be themselves and GBP would only screw things up like they always do.
    ^ top rank cheerleader....

lol 2 you thinking gbp is near bankrupcy, you must not be aware of how much money oscar has made, go put up another pacquiao poster up in your wall..

this is the best thing to happen for boxing, hopefully we get some good fights, people that want this cold war to keep going are idiots

Marley is supposing a few things a bit too much maybe. I wrote last week that although Bob Arum is a "softie" and would accept the apology, Top Rank Promotions is a different matter altogether. It is a huge company and involves far more than Bob Arum, who is really more or less the figurehead and spokesman. The REAL work is being done by others now.

If I were Manny P. I would go ahead with the case regardless of apologies. It may mitigate damages somewhat but the scandalous talk has been going on far too long, with too much vehemence and repitition over and over by ALL the defendants. it may even have put Manny P's re-election in jeopardy, and anyway, will certainly be brought up by his political opponents at election time, or even long before.

As for the share that Golden Balls gets from Pacquiao's fights it is tiny and was only as a "soother' for Oscar. They decided that it would be far cheaper to pay/take the few percent than the hige legal costs, win or lose, for both parties. There's no legal doubt but that Top Rank were in the right, and Oscar tried to steal a fighter in who's contract was the clause that he cannot speak about contracts with another promoter whilst still under a Top Rank contract. That could actually be in all their important contracts. Manny P. and his lawyer who was also present, knew this and realised that any signature would be invalid anyway, and, as Pacquiao said several times later, when the fuss began, that he signed just to get away from Oscar who was holding he there against his will, he was dead tired, and wanted to go to bed.

Oscar has a habit of slipping up like this, as we recently saw again with Donaire who's contracted to Top Rank until end of June 2013.

Hopefully the lessons were learned and bygones will be bygones, time to look to the future.

A good start would be a bradley-ortiz matchup in the fall, in cali, for vic's welter strap. The winner gets pacquiao in the spring. Nice way to seal the reconciliation imo.
This, in a nutshell, is my stance as well. Well stated, sir. Unfortunately, this thread will be polluted with folks who sound tough behind a keyboard without understanding the grander scheme of things...the almighty dollar!!!

            Apology? Sure...

Accept the apology but defamation lawsuit should continue, GBP knows they will lose and trying to do short cut not to get fine, Arum & Pacquiao should move forward by teaching GBP some lesson that they dont own boxing or else lot of pacquiao fans will get disappointed if he drop the case... Including myself and 100000 of my relatives and friends...

Larry, I've always wanted to ask you...why do you post all those pictures and billboards etc, along with some one's post that I presume you wish to answer, without saying anything yourself. It takes up a lot of space, and seems futile.

Likely there's a reason for it that I haven't yet seen.
