Round 7

Bayram looks to have regained a bit of focus and resolve and actually jabs purposefully now while circling. Konecny seems a bit surprised and stays shelled up as Bayram goes to work, throwing lots of long shots up into his guard and reaching down with a few body shots of his own. Konecny waits until the Frenchman has finished his assault and charges in low, hooking hard. Bayram just barely slips a high chopping 1-2. Bayram goes to jab with Konecny and is hit first, reeling. Combo upstairs and down by Konecny. Bayram is trying to duck punches up close and is just moving into their path. Hard hooks to the body by Konecny. Now a wild flurry, just chopping very high with both arms extended straight and missing about 3-4 times. That was very poor. Bayram barely had to do anything to dodge them.

Still, Konecny round.

Round 8

Bayram jabs like he's playfully snapping a towel at someone in the gymnasium locker room. That isn't going to keep Konecny off of him - and doesn't. Konecny is very patient and wasting no energy, but still out-punching Bayram by a good margin with his quick hooks up close. Konecny lands one pair to the sternum and to the left flank before Bayram can even start to throw a lazy jab (easily ducked on the way out). Konecny is putting together longer combinations now. Bayram almost gets caught with a sleep-inducing left hook to the jaw, that nearly pulls Konecny around like a strong wind through a weathervane.

This is as economical a beatdown as I've seen handed out recently.

Konecny punches himself repeatedly in the head coming off his stool to pump himself up for the 9th round. Awesome.

Round 9

Konecny is getting low, ducking below Bayram's waist and well out of the atmosphere of his lazy jab. Bayram is back to attempts at a big right hand, with and without the jab in front of it, but is again only hurt by this tactic as Konecny has more and more target available for his hooking combos. Konecny landing plenty, mostly to the body. Bayram is actually throwing his right hand hard, but just getting glove with it. Konecny drives him into a corner with a hard volley.

Round 10

They touch gloves (Bayram reluctantly, and with his back half turned to his opponent).

Bayram throws a hard 1-2, then another, and lands a left hook to the body. OOH, right hand to the face by Bayram - maybe the first time he's landed cleanly with it. Bayram seems to be making his last (well, first) stand. Lots of jabs from Bayram, stiffer than his usual patter. Konecny continues to defend well, ducking and blocking. Konecny leans in and shoves Bayram back across the ring. Bayram lands a jab/uppercut above and below the guard. Now Bayram crooks his right elbow and throws some scimitar overhands. They crash into the back of Konecny's neck. Konecny gets up close and finds his hard left hook, getting Bayram to shrimp up a bit in retreat. Hooking combo by Konecny now, putting Bayram on the ropes. Bayram resumes jabbing and stands his ground.

Eh, I'll give Hussein that one.

Konecny with a cut in between his eyes.Closer round as Konecny works in bigger spots but I still give it to him.

The interesting thing will be to see if the judges find a round to give Nayram.
