Comments Thread For: Carl Froch Once Again Hits The Road in Search of Respect

By Jake Donovan - It might be Glen Johnson whom is often referred to as boxng’s ultimate road warrior, but if there’s a fighter over the past two years who is more deserving of the honor, it’s Carl Froch.

The pride of Nottingham, England will fight in his fourth country in as many fights when he faces Johnson next Saturday at the Adrian Philips Ballroom in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It will also mark his first bout in the United States since his thrilling come-from-behind knockout of Jermain Taylor more than two years ago.

He is now one win away from advancing to the finals and for the past year or so has rated no worse than in the Top Three amongst the best super middleweights.

Yet it won’t be until the final bell of next weekend’s bout when Froch finally earns the long overdue respect from the boxing world.

Why that remains the case is anybody’s guess.

Perhaps it’s his fighting style, which is no-nonsense, dig deep and find a way to win, no matter whom against and how he gets the job done.

It worked on the night he captured his first major belt, outpointing then-unbeaten Jean Pascal in their December 2008 thriller for a vacant super middleweight bout. [Click Here To Read More]

Okay... Honestly - I like Froch very much, he is actually becoming a favourite of mine - but did he pay Jake Donovan to write this???

Froch is a great fighter who always makes it interesting.

I scored the Kessler bout a draw.

when the super six first started, froch was my least favorite of all 6 fighters. being an african-american myself, i favored the american fighters. but now, as we progress into the semis, froch has become my favorite to watch. andre ward, to me is a B+ fighter and quite boring to watch. i truly believe carl froch is the odds on favorite to win the tournament!

Quality beats quantity my friend. In five championship level bouts at 168 Froch has achieved a great deal more than Eubank and is very close to matching Calzaghe.

i think it may be possible. though i had him losing to dirrell, froch has really impressed through to the semis. already he's gained just as much or more american recognition than eubank or benn. a victory over johnson and ward would catipult him into at least an argument for 2nd best british S.M. of all time.

froch's fought top guys who all came to win while those guys only had a couple legit fights and the rest were against guys that had no chance.
