Marciano is white, clooney is american white. who else? to the person who made this thread, you should have just listed all white boxers you know.

i have one more ****** question, are mexicans, puerto ricans or any hispanics considered white if the color of their skins are white?

Gone are those days buddy. Besides, there was a lot of racial prejudice in those days. If blacks and other races were permitted to fight those champions, I doubt if they're careers would be as illustrious.

I am white, & the lack of white fighters doing really well has never bothered me in the least.

In fact, I got into boxing back when the hype for Holmes-Cooney was really coming into play.
I was a Holmes fan, & I was bothered by the favortism & undeserved awe given to Cooney....& even at a young age I knew why he was given those things.

I've been forever skeptical about white fighters since. They have to really prove themselves before I'll give them any credit, because I suspect they have gotten to a higher place than they deserve.

Agreed. That's why those boxers who never fough blacks have always had those doubts cast on them on their true skill and p4p talent. Since the emergence of black and boxers of other racial color, it was rarely dominated by a white anymore.

Blame it on weaker genes, blame it on having an easy life, blame it on Don King (lol), but it's just not the same when you mix it up with other races.

There's a whole lot of factors going into why whites aren't largely successful at boxing. Honestly, I don't give a **** as to why.

It's a nice thing to root for a fighter based mostly on what you like about his in-the-ring performance.....something 90% of this forum does not enjoy.

That's an interesting theory, but I seriously doubt you know anything to back up "those days."

Yeah, I know why too- Because he took out Norton in the first round on their fight and it took alot of doubts out of the media's mind- not defending cooney, i think he's a disgrace but like I said- he did earn it, as much as sam peter earned his shot.

and there werent any worthy white heavies then so of course he will be over publicized...especially after KOing norton like he did...

and I would also like to add this...

Those old era champions that refused to fight blacks because they were black, I don't even consider them champions, while the boxing government/mob would have a bigger influence on a fighter to fight someone more than him wanting to fight the person himself, still, a champion is one who will beat all and any, not only whites...so those ****s that refused to fight colored people were ****, imo.

He did not take the doubts out of the doubters' minds with his KO of Norton. Norton was shot & a disaster against big hitters.
Cooney's supporters were the ones who thought that KO mattered.

The only thing that impressed any true fight fans that night, was that Cooney hurt Norton, initially, with a right hand. This was a borderline miracle, considering Cooney was left-hand crazy.

Cause white people are racist rednecks, at least about 95% of them

im white and ive never met a whit eperson that isnt racist.

i do live in a redneck state though.

all they care about is racing, football, and fishing.

yes its because there arent any good white fighters other wise i think they would watch them at least.

another point of them being racist.
