it isn't about how many pac fans are. its how bad they are, but in truth most if not all of those points can be applies to any obsessive fan base of any sport.

oh please. Any fan of any sport knows that the more popular an athlete is, the more casual fans it grabs, and therefore the more ******ed/clueless fans it brings. This is a given, and it's the nature of sports. There's really no reason to write about it and IMO the writer only did this to get MASSIVE hits on his article because he knows that there are ALOT of casual Pacfans that's going to respond.

With that said, I do agree with him, but anyone here who doesn't think it works both ways are morons and belongs to the same category of people the writer is referring to.

As a guy who enjoys watching boxing, a pinoy, and who likes Pac, it drove me insane when I watched the Mosley fight and all these silly pacfans (I'm sure most of them are pinoy) are going crazy everytime Pac throws a punch, even tho it's not that big of a punch, I mean WTF was that? These people clearly hasn't seen a boxing match in their life, and that shit was annoying and it was embarassing to me as a pinoy boxing fan. Just like how these pinoys cheer for his singing when it's obvious he can't sing for shit. I know we're all proud of him, but cmon now, let's draw a line somewhere!

Most hardcore Mayweather fans I have talked with and debated with (as a guy who is not a big fan of Mayweather), they have been more knowledgeable and know of many other fighters.

The thing is, to be a hardcore Mayweather fan you gotta actually like boxing. To be a Pacquiao fan, you just have to be Filipino.

My girl is half Filipino. Her dad is from the Philippines. Some of her aunts and cousins came last year and you wouldn't believe how offended they get about anything pertaining to Pacquiao. An article had mentioned that Pacquiao's car was found with guns and some other stuff (I don't remember) and they got very offended, like I was talking about their brother, and I wasn't even saying it in a demeaning way, I was just asking for any inside information that they may have seen on Filipino TV, because they are pretty wealthy over there so they're not like "3rd world people."

And those cousins of hers didn't know a thing about boxing, but they couldn't stop talking about how great Pacquiao is and how he would knockout Mayweather and I would venture to say they had never seen Mayweather fight, but had only probably seen clips of Mayweather beating Hatton at the Pacquioa/Hatton fight and listen to the commentators emphasize on how Pacquiao did it so much quicker.

To me, that's your average Pacqiao fan. It's hard to give credibility to a fighter who's fanbase is mostly nationalistic, because the Filipino's have no other fighters aside from Donaire. If blacks love Mayweather simply because he is black.... well.... They have an entire list of ATG's that I'm sure they love and follow as well, like Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Tommy Hearns, Henry Armstrong, Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Aaron Pryor, and the list goes on and on up to Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather doesn't just have fans for no reason.

Pacquiao has fans for no reason other than race - being Filipino (the majority).

I gotta ask, how many Filipino's were really on this site and really running around on boxing websites before Manny Pacquiao? My guess is a fraction of what is out there today.

*****'s may be just as dedicated, but without question many of them follow the sport more closely and follow more fighters.

It's just shocking to see some Pac fans who have followed the sport for 5 years spout the nonsense that they do, but you are absolutely right that Pac fans are not the only ones.
          thanks man!

but i have to admit that i'm a pac fan 100% and actually watch pac's fights almost exclusively.

i may seem knowledgeable only cuz whenever i hear of another boxer's accomplishments, e.g. Martinez, BHop, etc., i give them props and don't belittle their accomplishments just to puff up Manny's. I USED TO in the beginning, but thankfully, i outgrew that. (google is ALSO a big help! )

it IS a pity that there are indeed so many Pac fans who only stain Pac's name by their antics, but it only makes fans like me strive to be more respectful of others i guess.

that's nice and all but according to ryann, your first hand experience can't compare to the pain and agony *******s have to go thru here on NSB on a daily basis with the what 5(?) "*****s" they have to constantly battle.

If you regularly use terms like "nuthugger", "*******", and "*****" you are no better than the fans you rail against, in fact you're a part of the problem when you should lead by example and be a part of the solution. Boxing is a gentleman's sport, grow up and act like gentlemen.

"to be a fan of floyd, you got to be a fan boxing"- dude. a lot of fans of floyd here are bragging how rich he is.

is it cause of his style? the "only people who know boxing can be fan of his" kind of thinking that really piss me off. its not true, and it's condescending to true fight fans who prefer aggressive fighters to defensive fighters.

It can but the article is about Pacquiao fans and there is a reason for that....

You seem to be in denial. When everybody notices something about a particular group, it's probably cause it's true. Your wife comes to you and says "I think you have a drinking problem." And you say "You're missing the point, all the guys get drunk after work."

But there's a reason it's being brought to your attention, same with Pacquiao fans.

I am shocked this article came out. I have been thinking this for so long, so much that I stopped coming into this section because the minute you speaking honestly about Pac or question anything he does, you are nailed with red K and to top it off, the debate that comes out of it is not intelligent.

I have never been Red K'd or had a bad debate with a Mayweather fan that was not halfway intelligent.

I'm just being honest, and I've debated with a lot of Mayweather fans like No_Ceilings and other guys.... They know the sport. The only Pacquiao fan that I have ever debated with who was enjoyable to debate with and knew some stuff was JRosales and we went back and forth for a few pages. All the rest of those guys are a joke.
