I think what the writer is talking about is the level of organization among pacquiao fans to slander, bring down anyone who has anything negative to say. Most other fans are limited in number, and limited in the amount of time spent defending a said fighter.
You will see mayweather fans (like myself) defending some of his desicions, issues, stances etc on messageboards and comments here and there. But pacquiao is a national hero among a group of people who have a large contingent on the internet and a huge following on the internet, this leads to alot of people sitting online defending his honor in droves of numbers.
Pacquiao is a national hero and hes right when he says alot of these people havent been following him since his immediate rise in the sport and hes looked at so feverishly in his country you get alot of people living vicariously through his accomplishments. As if the sport didint exist before he did.
I have been here a long time, mexicans and filipinos used to battle it out in racist fashion all the time, tyson, jones jr, klitschkos etc, even miranda has had their share of rabid fans.
But pacquiao fans not only outnumber everyone, they make more topics than anyone, they reply more than anyone, they are the largest contingent of fans period. Just read the responses in this thread, you can tell some of these people are catching feelings because there is alot of truth in whats being said.
For the most part, majority, a good 95 percent of these posters in this thread talk about nothing but either pac or mayweather, and explore new ways of upping his accomplishments and downing everyone elses.
The fact is, especially after the Oscar fight, pac fans have overtaken this board, and have successfully ran most of the sensible posters off the board.
Lets be honest, everyday pac is a subject, and not like when jones jr, or mayweather or hopkins was number 1, no, were talking 90 percent of whats on the first page is usually about him or pertaining to him.
Pac fans sheer numbers ran everyone else out of the building. I certainly dont post much anymore because im just bored with it, id rather just go to boxing history or read the news.
Everyday its "*****" "*******" etc.
How many hardcore mayweather fans are there on this site? MAYBE 15-20, MAYBE. Now how many pac fans? well over 200.
That is why the article is the way it is, for 4 years now we have all been forced to have every decent thread about mayweather, pacquiao be lodged into flame wars and name calling.
Im talking over 30 years of age, talking about mayweather being a drug addict monkey etc. Come on man.
