  • Pacquiao “I can make lightweight if I want to"

Pacquiao, who started out as a light-flyweight (108 lbs) in the mid-1990s, said he could still make lightweight (135 lbs) since he is not cutting down on his eating habits.

“I can make lightweight if I want to,” said Pacquiao.

If he can make lightweight, why is he fighting Marquez at a catchweight when his trainer Roach said 2 years ago that Marquez cant hold the weight at ww.

Roach, Top Rank and many Manny fans all discredited Mayweathers win.

If he can make lightweight why not fight Marquez at lightweight or at 140?

I agree, he should make his legacy even bigger by beating Marquez at Lightweight for his fifth lineal title. Who cares about Marquez breaking Mexico's record for a fourth division belt.

was this a question asked when Floyd asked Marquez to fight at 144?

The funny thing is, Pac CAN make lightweight or junior welterweight easily. He fucking made 138 with ease against Hatton. But his team wants to fatten Marquez up like a roast pig. Seriously, Pac is destroying his own legacy.

Nobody knew that JMM couldnt be able to carry the weight at WW. Just as we didnt know how Pac would do jumping 12lbs to fight Oscar.

We still dont know how effective JMM is at that weight because the only example we have is vs Mayweather, the best defensive/counterpunching fighter in boxing. Thats really an unfair example to use for an assessment of JMM at that weight because of the opponent.

But he said he could make the weight and fight comfortably at that weight.

Him making the LW limit isn't really news. Any person with common sense knows he's still pretty much a LW fighting at WW. The guy comes in at 147 or 148 in WW fights, it's only natural to think he can make 135 on the scales.

I would prefer he fought JMM at 135 for that 5th lineal crown. A 5th lineal title would most likely be a feat that would never be equaled like his 8 titles in 8th divisions.
