I think it's a bit like the Floyd situation: he was booed early on and so decided to play up to the 'bad guy' role due to the publicity/attention/paydays it potentially offers.

Or maybe he's just a twat, idk.

True, the British public on the whole dont take to braggarts, but there are two key things to overcoming that.

      1. dont lose.

      2. look good whilst winning.

James up to this point hasnt done that, apart from the fight with smigga who(unfortuneately for Degale) is very well loved by british boxing fans.

I am not gonna dump on the guy,he won the gold medal at the Olympics FFS! but he really needs to make some changes to the people he has around, most especially his trainer Jim McDonnell. McDonnell was a very good fighter, but just seems more like a cheerleader than a trainer.

Bottom line is that James needs a trainer thats goint to push him and tell him what he needs to hear, rather than what he wants to hear.

British fans didn't fall for DeGale because he carried himself poorly and acted like a chav.

Maybe if he spoke with an ounce of eloquence and humility people would start to warm to him. Until then, he will be seen as a representative of a British sub-culture that most people don't want to be reminded of. Our nations sports starts shouldn't talk and act like street urchins if they want respect.

I admit I've only seen his last fight, but I can't believe this is the guy the Brits were screaming could beat Ande Ward. He better ignore the boos and quit waiting for someone to give him a handout. He needs to concentrate on improving his game cuz a championship caliber fighter he ain't

James DeGale isn't fit to hold Andre Ward's jockstrap.

As long as Ward, Dirrell and Froch are active fighters he will never matter on the world stage.

There are plenty of gold medalists who never did **** as a pro, he is just the next in a long line.

It's nothing to do with him winning a gold medal, it's his perceived arrogance that gets him the boos.

One of his big problems is that he can't string a sentence together.

It leaves him a bit a handcuffed in how he can put himself across to the media and by extension the fans.

The best thing he has ever said is calling Groves a fool for wearing a dodgy tie.

He did come across as the bully in all the press and stuff, that can't be denied. He did. People were always going to turn on him, especially, as this other kid was a ginger who looked like he was wearing his Dad's suit.
