So far we've learned that Hopkins has a right to sue because he hasn't gotten stronger or faster, because as we all know.... it's an everyday occurrence when a 46 year old man outright dominates a 28 year old prime, strong fighter and has seemingly endless stamina, enough so he can do pushups in between rounds.

Nothing out of the ordinary about that, so Hopkins has a right to sue while Pacquiao does not. Excellent logic.

Well, in truth, I don't think this will be going anywhere. Though, under the laws of Canada, it should.

Canadian law:
"At common law, defamation covers any communication that tends to lower the esteem of the subject in the minds of ordinary members of the public. The perspective measuring the esteem is highly contextual, and depends on the view of the potential audience of the communication and their degree of background knowledge. Probably true statements are not excluded, nor are political opinions. Intent is always presumed, and it is not necessary to prove that the defendant intended to defame."

In America, however, the First ********* makes it very difficult for the plaintiff to win these types of cases.

Regardless, he should move on and just know that Pascal was trying to get under his skin and failed.

One thing is certain: Hopkins is done fighting with Pascal. At least in the ring. Hopkins says he is moving forward with plans to file a defamation suit against Pascal in Canada for comments Pascal made on the press tour hinting that Hopkins was using performance-enhancing drugs. He says he has hired a "high-profile Canadian lawyer" to help with the lawsuit.

"When you are foolish in life, you have to be held accountable," Hopkins said. "I'm coming after him strong. I didn't talk about [the lawsuit] before the fight because I didn't want it to look like it was sour g****s. I wanted to get the victory and teach him a lesson about my legacy. But I have never, ever used anything or taken any drug to bring out the best or worst in me to get an edge. I feel that at the end, when somebody says that you cheated, that person hasn't followed my life.

What people don't understand is defamation is one of the worst things that can happen to you. Thats why its against the law even tho we have free speech and the ability to express our opinions.

It can affect your livelihood and your potential livelihood and ability to provide for yourself and your family.

How would you like it if someone started spreading 100% false rumors about you at work (without a single shred of proof) and it prevented you from getting any more big clients or promotions and you knew in your heart that you did everything the right way and simply outworked the other guy in every way possible? A real man would sue his ass and make him put out a retraction in a court of law. And you can go to jail for defamation.
