The reason boxing "lags behind" is that there is not economical incentive for prime boxers to switch sport, like there is for wrestlers, bjj-players and kickboxers.
If none of the talented boxer make the leap, and we only see old hasbeens ofcourse its gonna "lag behind".
Only a handful of boxers make more money than Mixed Martial Artists. Top fighters in the UFC make the same money that a Andre Berto or Victor ortiz would make.Comment

Boxers make much more money than welfare check "paydays" in MMGAY
berto making 1m a fight, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
skills pay the bills, and MMA doesn't have any skill thats why they get paid baby money compared to real sportsComment

A top50 boxer can't exactly expect to go in and make GSP-kind of money.
Therefore, as i said, a boxer have an alternative, something wrestlers, bjj etc don't have. They can make more money at the top in their sport than in mma.Comment

welfare, loooool.
Go look at an ufc card and compare the salaries between boxing and mma.
The undercard fighters don't make much, but they actually make even less in boxing.
Excluding manny and floyd, the top earners in mma make as much as the top earners in boxing.
Educate yourself on the subject. You sound really dumb.Comment

The best BJJ guys don't go to MMGAY. They do their own little tournaments in brazil, I believe it's called mundials.
The best wrestlers don't go to MMGAY, they go to the Olmpyics. Usually get destroyed by russians or iranians.Comment

Demian Maia - mma
Roger Gracie - mma
Robert Drysdale - mma
Fabricio Werdum - mma
Braulio Estima - mma
Marcelo Garcia - mma (well, he tried)
Andre Galvao - mma
the list goes on and on and on. You are incorrect, a lot of the best bjj-players move on to mma.
Regarding wrestling, you are correct. MMA mostly picks up the top-level talent just under the olympic level.
That will probably change as the sport gets more mainstream.Comment
