how can hopkins be better than calzaghe?

Maybe Calzaghe shouldve grown some balls and challenged welterweights like Hopkins did?

To be honest, welterweights are the only names I recognize on Bhops pedestrian resume. Half of his defenses were against Robert Allen who is a nobody, and inflated bums like Eastman and Joppy.

The truth about the current Hopkins is that he cheats, fouls and slops his way to a stalemate. He cant decisively beat Taylor, Winky, Pascal or Calzaghe so his strategy is to make things ugly and hope the judges rule in his favor.

here we go again....the Brits are solid posters on here IMO...but when it comes to Calz and B.Hop yall play funny ball...yall calim B.Hop made a career off beating smaller dudes but then claim B.Hop ducked Calz when B.Hop was a MW and Calz was a SMW...I dont get that logic

I have two points:
1) Because Hopkins has aged so well and adapted his style to match his age, people dont consider the fact that he was well past his physical prime when Calzaghe beat him. Calzaghe would not have been able to do that to the destroyer BHop of 1995-2000.
2) That was NOT a schooling. Calzaghe threw a bunch of ridiculous slap happy bull**** punches, Hopkins landed every punch that counted in that fight. Watch the whole damn fight in slow motion. If you wanna score rounds to Calzaghe for activity, fine, but that was not a schooling or an asskicking by ANY means.

some of your stats are just downright wrong. you should probably stop. the stats are right there and you continue to lie.

robert allen was ranked all 3 times hopkins fought him. syd vanderpool was ranked when hopkins fought him. john david jackson was ranked when he fought him. we don't have the rankings when he fought council or johnson so saying they are unranked is just misleading. we don't know if they were ranked but council was ranked in the top 10 after hopkins fought him and johnson is a quality opponent so i count them just like i count bika for calzaghe even though he wasn't top 10 until later.

hopkins fought every guy who was ranked 1 or 2 from 96 till he left the division except harry simon who went to jail right after becoming number 1. there's no guy you can say hopkins ducked. there's no guy that had 20 title defenses at the same exact time as him. calzaghe never fought a number 1 or 2 guy till kessler in 2007. what was he doing all that time?

why would anyone say calzaghe beat up hopkins period? he only landed a handful of clean punches the entire fight. hopkins outlanded him by a wide margin in most of the rounds and made him miss most of his punches. aka boxing but oh well he wasn't macho enough to stand and trade so he lost.
