Nah, it wasn't "clear cut". As soon as the final bell went, I said "close fight, this is arguable whoever gets it" and I expected Groves to get the nod.
Groves has very good promotional backing himself and is a popular, young British fighter himself, not some Johnny Foreigner stepping onto DeGale's turf. Warren was never going to be able to rig the deck against Groves in that way.
I had it 115-113 for DeGale. Although I could see a draw and a 115-113 card for Groves.
I have a lot of thoughts on the fight and a round by round, which I'll post tomorrow when I CBA.Comment

I wanted Groves to win more but I scored it 115-113 to Degale. Close fight. The hate that Degale has managed to get has backfired on him. Most people would have scored this close fight for Groves. Plus the crowd was on Groves side.Comment

there were some very close rounds in that fight...i had Groves getting out to an early lead with his stick-and-move elusiveness but DeGale had his moments...IIRC, after the 5th or 6th, he actually did a better job in cutting off the ring and landing on Groves
competitive fight, i dont have a problem with the decision or if they called it a draw
BTW- first time i've seen Groves fight and i noticed the announcers talking about a 'different' version of his fighting style? he doesn't normally fight like that?Comment

Normally a low guard, or lack there of, quite a crude 'fighter'. Yet pleasing to watch.there were some very close rounds in that fight...i had Groves getting out to an early lead with his stick-and-move elusiveness but DeGale had his moments...IIRC, after the 5th or 6th, he actually did a better job in cutting off the ring and landing on Groves
