Taking fights like this is why JMM will never be greater than Morales or Barrera. This piss drinking fruit is fighting guys like this on top of a trilogy with Juan Diaz while Morales is shot to shit fighting top guys like Maidana and Barrera may end up fighting the Rios-Antillon winner or Miguel Vasquez.

People can claim he has Pacquiao's number somewhat and that's true up to a certain extent. But the reason why I won't ever respect him is because he never takes any risks outside of fighting Pacquiao because to me Katsidis, Diaz, and Casamayor weren't good fighters at the time he fought them and yet he gets praised like some kind of god on here.

I respectfully disagree. Marquez has always taken on the top challenges.
He is fighting David Diaz, because it is a tune up. He needs to stay sharp if he is going to fight Manny Pacquiao in November, and he himself has not fought since November. Make no mistake, David Diaz is a tune up for Marquez.
As for you saying he did not fight top guys at lightweight, well then please enlighten me, who else was better AT THE TIME? Not now, but 3 years ago when he first entered the lightweight division, who was better? Remember Rios, Antillon are recent top guys, Casamayor was the lineal champ at 135 when Marquez challenged him, Juan Diaz was another top guy at 135 at the time. Katsidis is was still a top 5 lightweight at the time!

Morales and Hamed didn't want to fight Marquez in his prime. It was a high risk, low reward fight for them. JMM was Hamed's mandatory challenger for almost two years but the sanctioning body let him duck JMM. I think it's funny how people act like JMM is a cherry picker, when most of them are Pacquiao fans.

I wouldn't call Maidana a top guy. He is young and strong but Khan showed us he can be easily out boxed, and thats why Morales was able to compete with Maidana. But as for Katsidis, Diaz, and Casamayor not being good fighters I don't buy that. JMM's level of opposition for his first fight at LW was much better than Pacquiaos'. The fight with Casamayor was JMM's first fight a LW and even though he wasn't in his prime Casamayor was still a very game fighter. He gave JMM a lot of trouble in that fight and it was a close fight on the cards at the point Marquez stopped him. In the first fight with Diaz, Diaz was still a top guy in the division. He was coming off his first loss but that loss to Campbell was mainly because of the bad cut he got due to a headbutt. He wasn't able to cope with that bad cut and Campbell capitalized on that fact. Katsidis's style is perfect for JMM and I agree he isn't a great fighter but the simple fact is that Katsidis was his mandatory challenger.

                  co-sign.....

Hamed should never have been allowed to get away with that, I think they petitioned the commission 5 times, and Morales had plenty of chances, as did Barrera who was the only one who eventually stepped up.

***'s sake guys, the 40yo midget is about to jump TWO DIVISIONS to fight Pacquiao, but y'all think he's a cherry-picker ?

I am not a fan of Pacquiao either and I still think JMM is overrated. People will take that as me being more of a fan of either Barrera or Morales or both but that's not really the case either. The only guy I really like out of the four is Morales because he doesn't duck anybody and lets it all hang out everytime he gets in the ring. JMM is a warrior inside the ring, but he turns down good fights all the time like with Khan and the first rematch against Pacquiao, Morales at one time and people claim he's this avoided fighter.

Why in the hell would you turn down a chance to become a four division champ to fight a guy you already just beat and a guy who lost to Malinaggi at that? The way JMM chooses his fights when he is not fighting Pacquiao is just lame to me. And the only reason he is fighting Pacquiao and fought Mayweather is for the money. I'm not saying he doesn't want to prove he is better than them. But if those guys didn't have cash cow reputations he would be ducking them too.

Valero may not have had the resume of Diaz and Casamayor but he was a tougher challenge. Just like Soto was a tougher challenge than Rocky Juarez.
