He lost a fight to Harry Simon which was pretty damn close. Again Winky had a case for winning that fight. But, it was close. But, Harry Simon was a damn good fighter as well.

There is Julio Cesar Vazquez. Big strong very solid JMW who Whitaker beat. A very underrated win by Whitaker mind you. But, that's neither here nor there. He drop Winky 5 times. But, Winky won most of the rounds. The knockdowns is what made him lose that fight. But, Winky was somewhat green not really in his prime just yet.

None of them had the style nor the flaws of P-Will though.

Then there was the draw with taylor. Again another close fight that didn't go to Winky way.

Had a tougher than expected fight with an awkward Sam Soliman.

Then the Hopkins fight. Where he fought outside of his best weight-class. And, then when he was shot and inactive against P-Will.

GBP is making a big mistake. I know Lara got arrested and all but still its too early to bail on the kid. Paul is going to beat his head in.

Never really seen Lara fight, heard about him plenty though.

It will be good to see Williams back in the ring.

Not gonna lie my jaw kinda dropped when I saw this. I just ever expected it. I was big on Lara a couple years ago, missed his last couple fights though. Still props to HBO for stepping up and dismissing Ishida who probably just took advantage of a different Kirkland than we saw in the past.

Williams really doesn't need to take a fight like this right now. Props to him for jumping right back into competitive fights right after getting KTFO.

I cannot read through seventeen pages of responses. So, forgive me if this has already been discussed.

For everybody that was ****ting on Paul Williams in the Ishida thread (the comments thread in response to the announcement that Williams and Ishida was going to happen), calling him a fraud and other derogatory terms, the announcement of this fight is exactly what I was referencing in rebutting those claims. Paul Williams is great for boxing. He fights good-great fighters from 147-160, gets after it round after round (leaving himself vulnerable because of his style), and is exciting to watch. There is not a single fight for Williams against a top 25 fighter from 147-160 that I would not want to watch.

HBO forced this fight on him for certain. Oh well. At least its not a huge mismatch. And I see Lara getting up for this one.

I will be tuned in for sure. Good job HBO. Keep it coming.
HBO wants to hold the cubans short so they put Lara against a good american before its to late. HBO dont want Cuba taking over professional boxing!

You want to try again bud. I mean we talking 6 fights with lefties all recent when you and I both know its his kryptonite. Cmon man.
Only shows what an idiot Williams is. Hes fighting southpaws all the time and still cant deal with that style.

Well done HBO.... This is a great fight. Both men are at crossroads in their career. Lara coming off a poor performance and Williams get KTFO by maravilla. Who ever loses in my eyes will have their career set back alot.

I pick williams for this if he has recovered from the mental affects of being Ko'd hard. Lara likes to set the pace and throw timed and precise punches, he seems akward when a guy throws back at him and keeps coming forward. Williams is a very very good pressure fighter and I think his work rate and the amount of punches he throws will be enough to get a very wide UD over lara.

LAra's wife told me that she saw Lara sign the contract with her own eyes yesterday, when i asked her about these "rumors", i guess the question is if paul signed and if hbo accepts the fight
