This isn't really an easy fight for Cotto, Miguel fighting at 160 vs anyone would be a somewhat difficult fight cuz of the weight.

Iono sounds like you don't want cotto to get the fight. anyways this is solely my opinion,at 160 the fight is legit.you haven't looked at the factors chavez has over cotto other then "boxing skills".at 154 I didn't care too much.and I won't accept catchweight.I've criticized pacquiao and i will do it for cotto.they won't feed julito to martinez when he can triple his earnings with cotto.i don't know why you say cotto lacks "hard fights" through his career. At least cotto has the cojones willing to fight his rematches.unlike margarito who hasnt chased his rematch with williams and that was before he was taunted as the most feared man and before he got ruined.

The fight against Foreman was easy but other than him, Jennings and Gomez, Cotto has fought top notch opposition since winning a title at 140. People should give Cotto more credit for beating Mayorga because that was the best Mayorga had looked in years. He made it a real tough fight for Cotton and anyone who says it was an easy win from a gimmie opponent didn't watch the fight

So much ******ity in this thread its unbelievable. Firstly, this was NEVER Cotto's first choice, Margarito got busted up by a guy 20 pounds smaller than him so badly, he can't get cleared to fight and THAT is the fight Cotto really wants. That being said he needs a plan B, but he isn't going to just fight anybody you dumbasses do realize this is a business and Cotto relies on money to live just like the rest of us. Cotto is a veteran who has faced the BEST competition out there and if you need proof of this compare his resume with the other "Top 10 P4P" and tell me he shouldn't be up there just for that.

The fact is that this fight is going to take place in Sept, the same date that the Margarito fight was supposed to be, which happens to be Mexican Independence Day. Given that Margarito is out of the picture now and the biggest draw in Mexico is Jr, with the exception of maybe Canelo. But, and for the sake of boxing, none of you are promoters. This is the best move for Cotto's bank and that is just as important as his resume, and its the same for any fighter. The fact is a Mexican, in Vegas, on PPV, on a Mexican holiday vs Puerto Rican and it just so happens that its the 2nd highest draw in boxing and you have yourself a success.

All that being said, Cotto would outbox Angulo and Cintron there is no reason for those fights. I want to see Cotto vs Martinez and its a fight that CAN BE made, however, Martinez promoter asking for a 50/50 split, get real guys. Cotto draws 20k plus vs anyone in NY, Sergio can't get 3k in the building. Besides, we all know Cotto wants and will get another shot at Manny if he keeps winning, especially if he beats Margarito.

I didn't want to delete all I typed earlier, but this short post will make things very easy to understand.

Cotto vs Jr is a very high risk/low reward fight for Cotto, however, its the best reward he can get given the circumstances. Jr, is a flat out draw in Mexico and he is going to draw more money than anyone else, except for Canelo (which can't be made.) Cotto is probably going to get a 70/30 split, and you can grab a slew of casual fans just by the name JCC Jr. Casual fans will simply think, its JCC son? Oh well, he has to be good" and they'll get buys off of that.

The fact of the matter is how many PPV buys does Cintron, Martinez and Angulo have? The answer is none. How about compare gate numbers with Chavez? This would be a landslide in Chavez favor too. Deal with it guys, boxing is about how much money you can bring in and whoever can bring in more money, especially when one guy is a household name, if you aren't bringing in 7 figures you aren't getting the fight its that simple and the truth is Cintron, Martinez and Angulo aren't bringing in 7 figures.

@154 I'm gonna go with Cotto, I'm not jumping on the Sergio bandwagon yet. Williams I always felt was garbage, and it was proven and Pavlik was probably drunk when they fought and he was still able to outbox him in the middle rounds till the next cut opened.

Sergio just has too many bad habits that lean right into Cotto's wheelhouse. Firstly, Sergio leans to his right WAY too much a Cotto left hook with Sergio leaning in and I can see Cotto's power keeping Sergio from pressuring Cotto. All this of course can be set up with a jab when Sergio drops his hands. So that leaves me with the fact that Cotto has better footwork, technique, speed, ring generalship and overall boxing IQ the fact is that Cotto is simply a better fighter. Sergio at 154 the ONLY advantage I think he has is power, and getting down to 154 Sergio is going to lose quite a bit of the muscle he has now.

At 160 this fight is a totally different story, I think Cotto gets KO'd. At 154 I'll give him the nod via decision.
