Still he is the closest thing the division has to a Rocky Marciano. I am excited about what the future holds for him.
Lets also keep in mind. He remained dangerous the entire time. He was throwing serious shots.......and stunned Wlad in the 12th.

I was impressed with his composure, chin, and believe it or not.......skill.

These ****weeds can say he is one dimmensional, but when a big guy like that feints punches and played the pocket game with Wlad...that shows different.

Wlad did alot of running. Given.

But when they stood toe to toe, they feinted eachother constantly...trying to land a big punch.

Peter is a thinker in there. He is not a simple minded fighter who relies on his raw power. He was looking for the well executed shot to end the fight.

Which he could have done at any time. Credit to Wlad for surviving against the most dangerous man in the heavyweight division without a doubt.

The premis of this thread is ridiculous. Everybody had doubts that Wlad could ever again win a fight against a big puncher. He took on the biggest puncher in the division and won. For Peter, he stepped up bigtime in his opposition and fought well, proved to have a chin, proved alot of things. This was Peter's first fight against top tier opponent and he had him down twice. And only lost the descision by 3 points. Peter and Wladimir are both on the way up. Dangerous opponents to anybody.

I would like to name the fighters who you would pick to beat either Wlad or Peter. The list is very short. If you say Rahman. I declare you the laughing stock of the day.

You all are giving Peter too much credit. He is not good. He is just another David Tua.

You can't tell me Wladimir looked good against him either, stumbling around the ring like a drunk 1/3 of the fight and clutching almost as much as Ruiz. This was not a good performance by either fighter.

I like Wlad....but at this rate, he'd get KO'd in a rematch with Chris Byrd. And I don't care much for Byrd.

What the **** sense does that make. Wladimir just fought the best fight of his career. He showed skills he never demonstrated before. He was cool and composed during fierce exchanges, he used tactical holding, movement, ring generalship. He showed heart, and I think also even showed showed some chin. Most the times he was knocked down were from blows to the back of the head. Wladimir did in that fight eat some big punches and take them well. He basically fought a perfect fight aside from when the Nigerian bull got him agains the ropes in round 10 and had him down legit. There are very few fighters I can envision handling Peter like that. To handle Peter like that you have to be skilled and also posses a punch.

Toney was mentioned as being capable of defeating sam Peter. Well Toney is a very skilled fighter, and great against agressive opponents, but standing against the ropes and counterpunching Vassilliy Jirov is quite something different than standing on the ropes and exchanging with Sam Peter With his strenghth, chin and punching power. And whoever was drawing the comparison between Tua and Peter I think it is a valid one.

Good post. Peter has endurance problems. And Wlad has testicle size problems in addition to chin problems.

I think both guys get crushed by any top 5-8 heavy.

Diego fuego has a point with those predictions. I thought DeVarryl Williamson was going to beat Wlad that fight. He already sent his clumsy down already.

I agree Toney KOs Wlad. Mayweathers power isnt great. Just ask Gatti but the constant beating and some fighter's corner's pride will stop the fight for Wlad. I just see him getting hit a lot and Wlads corner stopping it. Manny Steward wouldnt let his fighter get embarassed.

Toney would get jabed and eaten alive on the outside by Wlad. However I do think He does possess KO power at heavyweight. His punch should be underestimated. He was hurting Ruiz badly in their fight. His body shots were causing welts on Ruiz's ribcage.

My point is, I am not a Klitchko hater. Nor am I a Chris Byrd fan. But I was trying to show you that I am not being biased AGAINST Wladimir Klitchko. But let's be realistic, his performance these past few fights are not at all the way he used to fight. Against Byrd, I'm afraid he would reserve too much energy to last the distance but in turn, lose by UD to the pitty patting Chris Byrd.
