I don't like this fight for Manny at ALL.

    For a number of reasons:

1)Floyd took Marquez apart at about the same weight. If Manny looks bad in this fight, that will be TWO opponents in a row, that Floyd WHOMPED with ease, which Manny looked bad against.
2)Juan Manuel Marquez has given Manny trouble in the past. I don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility that Marquez could actually even BEAT Manny. If that happens, Manny's marketability goes in the TOILET.

The only way Manny comes out of this ahead, is if he totally mops the floor with Marquez. I'm talking like 4th round KO or something like that. Otherwise, this fight could be a potential disaster for Pacman.

He should just fight Floyd, take the money and RUN. Win, lose, or draw he'd still come out $30-$40million richer. Which is WAY MORE than the money he'll make fighting the Marquez's of the world.

And I'm still not entirely convinced Manny is just gonna' walk through Marquez anyhow.

Interesting tidbit from Rafael's article on the subject:
With the Pacquiao fight on the line, Arum said Marquez plans to take a tune-up against faded former lightweight titlist David Diaz (36-3-1, 17 KOs) on July 2 in Mexico City. Diaz lost his title to Pacquiao via a lopsided ninth-round knockout in 2008.

Marquez's own promotional company will put the card on, although Arum said Top Rank would help if needed. Arum said Marquez's deal for the Pacquiao bout permitted him an interim fight as long as it takes place by July 17.

"He's going to do that fight, and if he loses, he's out," Arum said.

Marquez is an idiot for even taking that risk and potentially losing out on possibly $15 million in guaranteed money, but definitely $5 mil (plus PPV share obviously). He learned absolutely nothing from Chris John, why risk your money like that? What does he get from this pointless 'tuneup'?

They should just scrap the Diaz exhibition and stage Pac-JMM in the late summer or early fall. We have to wait 6 months for this ****, that's a long time, a lot of wasted time. Pac took no damage from Mosley, only Marquez's bull**** is holding it up.

So JMM should go into a Pac fight with damn near a year of inactivity? So not only do people want this old recycled fighter against Pac. But, they want him somewhat rusty? Great....

I hope JMM does lose, so we wont have this garbage fight. But, something tells me that even by some miracle and JMM losses to Diaz(which will never happen) the Pac fight will still happen. Then trend continues no matter what.

          F'ing sucks.

How is a David Diaz fight going to help him get ready for Pacquiao? They're both southpaws, that's where the similarities end. Marquez should be focused on adding a few lbs in lean muscle as opposed to the usual bloating with just water weight. He could hire good sparring partners and get in as many rounds as he feels he needs to get him ready, hell even hire Diaz as a sparring partner with some of that guarantee money.

And whether you like it or not, the fight will happen (unless JMM Chris Johns it again)- it's a match a lot of people have been calling for for years, Marquez himself being the most vocal. If you don't like it, don't watch it, it can be your own little boycott.

Yes because sparring with headgear on and bigger gloves removes rust like a real boxing match would

And, of course it's going to happen. Is the trend lately for Pac opponent. Cherry pick an old recycled fighter. And, even if JMM losses to Diaz that doesn't eliminate a Pac fight. No matter what the trend will still continue.

And, you damn right I don't like it. A lot of ****riders might. But, every chance I get I will speak against this garbage ass fight.

Diaz is literally useless in regards to preparing for Pacquiao. Might as well just fight Zab.

And once Pac starts cherry-picking young undefeated fighters like Bradley (next Spring), then I'm sure there will be complaints about that. World keeps on turning.

                Keep fighting the good fight

Is not about preparing for Pac is about removing rust that sparring can't do. Judah above 135 is too risky but again maybe he should fight Judah cuz' again even if JMM lost he will still get a Pac fight. No matter what this garbage third fight is going down.

He was suppose to cherry pick a young undefeated fight like Bradley this year no? Ain't that what you told me? Yea he's not facing Bradley next spring. Next spring he will be facing the winner of Cotto-Chavez Jr. World keeps on turning

Keep on getting on your knees for Pac :*******:

So Cotto-Chavez winner for the WBC MW strap? Pac weighing in at 145 as usual? You really think that's going to happen? Even with a 155 catchweight, he'd be giving up 10+ lbs at the weigh-in alone. Not happening.

If you said Cintron at JMW, I would've believed you. Arum is on record the Bradley fight was happening this fall or next spring, JMM's contract running out made him the obvious target. So once Bradley signs with Top Rank this summer, he'll get a nice high profile or 2 then wins the Pacquiao lottery in the Spring.

But Pacquiao fighting at MW is more likely, you're right.

A catchweight of 155 against a mall JMW like Cotto for a "record 9th title defense" is very likely at happening.

LOL @ Arum of all people being on the record. Arum is also on the record of Pac potentially fighting Cotto and JCC Jr. Arum was on record saying after Mosley showing against Mora there was no way of him getting a shot against Pac.

But, yea OK, you're right is not likely. But, somehow if Pac and the winner of Cotto-Chavez Jr happens next spring. You will be back on your knees :*******: and telling me how Bradley will be next
