Comments Thread For: Sugar Breaks Down The Past, Latest on Antonio Margarito

The latest news surrounding Antonio Margarito hasn't been the kindest as the former welterweight champion very well could be seeing his career coming to a premature ending. Margarito suffered a broken orbital bone and a possible detached retina in his last fight, a one-sided points loss to Manny Pacquiao last November, and is set to be seeing a specialist sometime this week to determine how severe the injury is.

Pacquiao was never scared to fight Margarito. Pacquiao beats him 10 outta 10 times easy at any weight.

The problem isn't the broken orbital bone, it's the detached retina.

Most astute comment from Sugar was why didn't the boxing commission guy spot the plaster?!

This is all Margarito's fault. Dating back to right after he beat Cotto, Margarito partied a lot, therefore gained a lot of weight months before the Mosley fight. This is why he's cheecks were sunk in at the Mosley weigh-in(he was weight drained). Margarito let his self go for too long and is still paying the price now. If he would have maintained, his trainer wouldn't of had to help him with plaster for the Mosley fight and get caught. Who knows what would be if he had taken care of his body prior to Mosley fight.

Only thing I feel bad about is we not gonna get Cotto-Margarito II. That sucks. Miguel would have destroyed Tony's face for good. Really would have done a lot of damage with those left hooks of his up top.

I totally agree. It says everything about boxing commissions and why they are virtually meaningless. Margarito would've gotten away with cheating like Manny does now. Bob Arum should be banned from boxing!!!!!!!!!!

Marquez might be getting his biggest payday by fighting Manny Pacquiao. He keeps on talking and telling people he knows how to beat the guy that sent him to the canvas 4 times in their 2 meetings. During those days, the Pacman was a one handed fighter...a plain courageous left hander. When Manny trained for the Oscar Delia Hoya fight, he learned how to use his right hand. Then Manny became the mighty Pacman. Several big men followed after the beating of Oscar Delia Hoya...most of these big men have'nt been back to the ring and their future uncertain. It would be a scary thought for somebody to see Juan Manuel Marquez fighting the likes of Cotto, Margarito and Mosley. Look what the two handed Pacman did to these so called bigger fighters. A friendly advise to Juan Manuel Marquez...look back to the Pacquiao/Mosley fight, a handshake in every round. Show Manny Pacquiao some respect and friendliness and you might survive 12 rounds.
