While discussions for an immediate rematch are already taking place, WBO super bantamweight champion Jorge Arce is very upset with Saturday's final outcome to his younger brother's title fight with WBA interim-bantamweight champion Hugo Ruiz, which took place in Los Mochis, Mexico. After twelve rounds of a close war, and both fighters hitting the floor, the judges gave Ruiz a wide twelve round decision. Two of the cards had Ruiz up 114-109.

It was a great fight. And how can you say your brother was robbed in his own country and in his own city? I think Jorge is still not getting used to the fact his brother lose the fight. Next week it'll be a different story.

Arce deserved better

It was close but Arce's team has a valid point. Arce scored 2 legit knockdowns that hurt Ruiz. Arce slipped in the 5th and that was called a knockdown, and in the 11th Ruiz was firing on Arce but he pushed him hard and as he was going through the ropes, he smacked him with a right hand. Further, the over officious ref took a point from Arce for no good reason late in the fight. Amazingly, when Arce fell out the ring full force, he was back in the ring in only a few seconds. We know Hopkins would have taken a powder at that point. I thought Arce did more work but the faux knockdowns and the point taken, screwed him out of a title.

The fight was very close. It could have gone either way!!! Ruiz got knocked down twice hard, while Arce got knocked down with a scraping punch (it seems like he kinda slip at the same time) and got a point taken away for excessive holding (if I remember correctly). Arce got knocked out of the ring by a right hand and actually got lucky the reff didn't count it as a knocked down! ...Either way, it was a very close fight!!!

ruiz stopped being effective after the 1st knockdown. arce was nailing ruiz with hard punches throughtout the whole fight. hard left hooks, & lead overhand rights. in the middle rounds ruiz wasnt even doing anything anymore. the judges' scoring is all wrong. "at worst, maybe a draw" like chavez sr said.

Well, when Hopkins fought Robert Allen the 1st time, he was pushed out the ring by ref Mills Lane and he acted as if he was injured and couldn't continue, citing an ankle injury. The thing is, he was getting quite roughed up by Allen in the fight and I'm not certain he would have won. I thought he demurred to ensure that he'd keep his title.

Yes, he easily handled Allen twice after that but both guys went in different directions after that fight. You may call Bhop an all time great now, but his management prowess, of himself, ranks with the all time greats of boxing managers.

Yep, he was robbed. It was a discgrace, he whooped his Ruiz'es ASS. Bad Judging/Reffing happens everywhere sadly.

Most Judges/Refs are complete idiots who dont even follow the sport or know all of its rules. They dont even have any tests to tell if they are senile or not. Once the ahtletic commision makes you a judge you can judge till you die. look at New Jersey, the amount of idiot judges it has is mind boggling. If you scored it 120-108 and the other 2 have it 108-120 108-120? Well you keep on judging and robbing fighters of their future!

It was a close fight ... Arce dropped Ruiz 2 times, but Ruiz also knocked down Arce 2 times ( yeah maybe those were harsh knockdowns, but they still count ) ... Personally, I would've called it a draw.
