For all the Euro fans: (With respect)
A Northern California fighter head lining in Southern California is like a Frenchmen head lining in England. Not going to sell well. Yes it is still California but SoCal and NorCal have a fierce rivalry in EVERY SPORT and especially in politics. Imagine Manchester U trying to sell tickets to Manchester city fans, not going to sell well. Same thing here.
The judge was Puerto Rican and was in Ward's case all night, the judges were nuetral yet still Ward won almost every round. Can't you guys give the kid some credit for making Abraham look like a stiff? For peppering AA all night with jabs? For withstanding a couple of wild AA haymakers?
The semis and final are in the US. If you are so upset about that then contact Sky and have them set up a tourney and maybe then you can hold your final 4 in Wembly or at O2 Arena or whatever venue you see fit. It's a Showtime tourney, boxers trying to get US exposure, it is here....live with it.
As for Ward's home cooking, everyone thought he was too raw, too young, too inexperienced, thus the Euro promoters said sure he can have his fights in the US. Well shame on them, it cost Froch's promoter his job, so be it, you have your pound of flesh.
If Froch is so damn good like you Brits say he is, then don't worry about it he should mop the floor with Ward. But you Brits don't want to admit is that Ward is a crafty SOB, he can fight inside, he can box, he fights like a seasoned vet yet is a young stallion and he knows How to get away with some dirty stuff. Froch has a fight on his hands vs Cool Papa Johnson in June, if he wins you Brits know that he'll have an even tougher task in Ward. Just admit it and stop making excuses to why Froch might lose, I find it insulting to Froch that his supporters are already making excuses instead of standing by your man and his skill set.
The last time there was a fighter like Ward on top you Brits were traveling the world to see him fight, singing Christmas carols and rejoicing at his exploits both legal and illegal. Now it's an American albeit younger and with more potential and now you want to shoot him down?

This fight is too important for him to be robbed. He needs a neutral country, ref and judges, dont let showtime get the judges
any close rounds will all go to ward if its in the usa, froch needs to stick to his guns, once he beats the old dude, try to get the fight in a neutral countryComment

The hometown bias shown to american fighters in the states will be a problem for froch as it is for lots of guys travelling to the states and other countries too. Dirrell would have won his fight v froch if it was in the states, froch would have taken the kessler fight if it was in the UK. The problem is that americans get 99% or more of their fights at home and on top of that have the second most biased hometown officials (after germany of course) and the problems really mount up.
Recently, kotelnik should have got the decision against alexander, you have an american judge giving williams a shutout against martinez in their first fight, ward being handed shutouts recently when his opponents clearly wins some rounds. If froch is looking to win a decision against ward in the states its almost mission impossible imo. Frochs only hope is to pick up the messy close rounds but if the fight is in america all of them will go to ward. But the contracts state the final rounds have to be in america, so on top of ward getting all his fights in the comp in his home state he will still have country advantage whatever happensLast edited by Smash; 05-15-2011, 11:29 AM.Comment

Its a hell of a lot easier to put in a good performance at home than it is to do the job or even dominate away. Same in all sports and the same in boxing. Athletes are creatures of routine like most of us are, take someone out of that routine and they dont preform as well. On top of that the home crowd will often inspire and intimidate. Its just not as easy to perform in unfamiliar surroundings. Some fighters can handle it and some cant but all would prefer to fight at home.Comment
