  • Predictions for the 168 division in the next years.

The 168 division would seem to have alot of important and career defining fights over the next year or so i thought i'd self-indulge myself in some predictions.

Ward vs. Abraham .. Ward to use his superior boxing ability to outbox Abraham, keeping busy and smothering AA when he needs to. If Ward shows more agression a possible TKO could be on the cards.

Froch vs. Johnson .. a FOTY candidate. Johnson giving Froch all he can handle but the Cobra finishing the stronger to take a close points decision.

Bute vs. Kessler .. A competitive fight to start with but Bute's handspeed start to give Kessler problems by the mid-rounds. Body shots the key and i fancy them to stop Kessler. Or a comfortable enough UD decision for Bute.

Ward vs. Bute .. An intresting clash of styles. Ward - the proverbial jack of all trades sort of fighter may find a way to win but does get reckless sometimes. Bute's uppercut and body shots give him a chance in any fight. A close decision either way.

Carl Froch has said he wants a big domestic dust-up in Britain to get him that exposure in England when the Super 6 finishes.

Look for Froch vs. De Gale to take place by mid 2012.

De Gale - if he progresses the way he should - will outbox Froch and be on his way to super stardom with a showdown against Ward or Bute.

    ------

Bernard Hopkins to beat Pascal next week but having to face Dawson in the 2nd part of his HBO deal - who stylisticially makes for a bad match-up against B-Hop - makes him look old and therefore takes him out of the picture.

    ------

Abraham to return to Germany were he looks like a world-beater.

The 168 is one of the best division due to ShoBox tourney.

Ward vs. Abraham - Target practice for Ward. Ward just need to pace and keep AA at a distance with decent punch volume. It is Ward's fight to lose.

Froch vs. Johnson - I have feeling Johnson is gonna get robbed.

Bute vs. Kessler - I enjoyed Kessler tremendously during his close win over Froch. But his ability to hit the combos has eroded. Kessler could give him some problem towards the end of the fight but I think Bute will probably take it in UD/SD.

Ward vs. Bute - Ward should fight rough and inside as much as possible. Would love see this fight but I think Ward will take it. Bute to me has stamina issue.

Haven't had a chance to see too much of De Gale so I can't really comment.

Bernard Hopkins to beat Pascal next week but having to face Dawson in the 2nd part of his HBO deal - who stylisticially makes for a bad match-up against B-Hop - makes him look old and therefore takes him out of the picture.

Depending who is judging this fight, you could see BHop lose. But BHop has Pascal figured out and should win this one. Then will probably take on the mighty Beibut Shumenov and an incredible win over Tavoris Cloud to be the undisputed light HW then he will seek a rematch with Calzaghe.....

'68 is a division traditionally ran by the Europeans...I see no change in that...James DeGale is the new kid on the block for now...but look for him to rule that division in a few years time....the kid is what I call "SPECIAL"....I can see he and Froch having a domestic tear up in the future....but I would like to see DeGale fight Pavlik...IMO, he beats Pavlik NOW....he beats Abraham NOW(Abe is one of my favs but it is what it is)....he beats Allen Green NOW....and I would LOVE to see him in with Ward....IMO, he can hang with Ward NOW....I'm high on the kid as yall can see...he's the future in that division imo
