Wow, no big surprise there. If Chavez wins he will definitely vacate the belt because he probably watched some tapes of Martinez and pissed himself. At least Zibik is man enough to accept the challenge.

It sounds pretty easy to do but in reality, Martinez is a SMALL MW. He fought his entire career at jr. MW and he gives up height to every opponent he faces. He would be tiny compared to those guys for real. He walks around at 175 or so and Ward probably walks around at 185 or 190Comment

but my theory that martinez walks around at 185ish is supported by an article on boxing scene. 2 months into training camp, at the 30 day pre fight weigh-in, martinez weighed 177 pounds. Now this doesn't 100% prove my theory correct, because maybe he started that camp heavier than usual; got a little more out of shape from eating and drinking too much. Or perhaps he started camp at the same weight, and simply didn't start to make his cut until closer to the fight.Comment

Martinez has the talent to unify MW and JMW if he wanted, and that's something I'd respect even if the titles don't mean anything nowadays. I feel bad because the man wants, and deserves, some big money fights. I'd like to see Serg try at SMW, not against a top guy but like an intro fight to see if he can handle the size increase. One other thing, for the most part I don't care who Sergio fights, we all know he will fight anybody in front of him, I doubt he'd turn any opponent down because he's too tough, I really do.Comment
