This is the answer... Cotto's punching power at 140 had more ffect on his opponents at 140 and 147. Except for Quintana, it'd take him a few more rounds to get a stoppage. He hasn't been hurting fighters the same way since.

He still has power, but his hand speed has been reduced quite a bit.

        TKO undefeated Foreman

        TKO Mayorga

        2-2 KO

        100%

yeah his power did not diminish.

look at his fight with MARG at 147. His power wasn't even visible in that fight. He couldn't rock Pac either.

          he's fighting larger men

at 140 cot had a stick of dynamite in his left hand

at 147 he was very heavy handed

and at 154 he's a solid puncher, but he's nothing to write home about in terms of brute power at 154

julian jackson is a 154 lb power puncher
          big difference

Not to discredit Cotto but his wins at 154 was against Foreman who is rather soft and had injuired a leg and Mayorga who quit not because Cotto was bashing him but because he had injuired his thumb. Maybe if he can KO Margarito or Chavez Jr. then we can decide if his power at 154 is underrated.

?? Cotto hit Mayo so hard he felt the nerves in his thumb catch fire. Mayorga said it himself post fight "That Rican hits hard.."

Yea i think its 8 ounce gloves for below 147 and 10 ounce gloves for +147. Unless the contract for the fight says differently and the fighters agree.
